Re: David Armitage
Gold Coast would be a good option for David. He would help their list develop.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: David Armitage
in a coaching role yes. had a decent career and one A grade season but his body is clearly past it at AFL level. Could play at the lower level alongside developing playerstedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 7:26am Gold Coast would be a good option for David. He would help their list develop.

Re: David Armitage
Just to remind you Impatient of one of his best games
45 disposals, 1 goal, five tackles, 3 Brownlow Votes
This coming a week after 35 disposals, 8 tackles and 11 clearances. Couple of weeks before that he got 30+ and 2 goals
NOT BAD FOR A C GRADER?
In fact
He has picked up 40 Brownlow votes, so numerous times he’s been considered in the best 3 players ON THE GROUND!
Again, not bad for a C Grader.
At his best 2014-2016 he was a B+
In 2015 he was easily A Grade, unlucky not to win the B&F imo

Absolutely warrior his body failed him which is a testament to the blood he spilt for the club.

If it’s impossible to make finals, do we give Armo a farewell game up in Sidderney in Round 23?

Re: David Armitage
Last I heard was that he was taking some time away from footy. I'm guessing he'd be very unlikely to play again this year.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Tue 13 Aug 2019 7:04am If it’s impossible to make finals, do we give Armo a farewell game up in Sidderney in Round 23?

Re: David Armitage
Last couple of years he has had to impress, impress and then impress again to get selected. A good game or two, one quiet day, just one, and back he went.
I suppose he must have been made aware of that this kind of scenario might eventuate and who knows, maybe he is doing the Ivan Lendyl style. I thought was cool if your ego can take it. Stay in the circuit, never mind as your ranking goes down down. Keep doing our best, occasionally make a quarter final and promote your business post tennis whenever. Collect the cash, treasure the experience. None of this “leave when on top” nonsense.
Shane wakelin did it at Collingwood too, and happily and humbly said in an interview that he thought the “hero’s exit” is nice but not necessarily the best.

Re: David Armitage
Sad way to finish a career.
Maybe a lap of honour at the Carlton game for the handful of Saints fans in attendance??

Re: David Armitage
So it was just coincidence that Armo’s two games were the Suns in Townsville and the Lions at home.

Re: David Armitage
Dave would have been told if he were going to get a farewell game or not by now.
It has to be this Saturday at the MCG because the last game is at the SCG.
If he is concussed then it is all over already.
A drive around the ground in a car the best he can get.

Re: David Armitage
this will be interesting if Armo gets to play this weekend.
"the club is bigger than any individual" and all that,
but it will be a great emotional feeling for the entire squad if he plays, seeing as how we can't make finals.
I imagine it will be tough for Armo to be in the rooms after the game, if he doesn't play,
knowing that he might have little chance of getting picked for the Sydney game,
and knowing that he's going to be playing Zebs next year alongside Gilbo.
Who is dropped to make way?

Re: David Armitage
Armitage....sob...sob... alas...etc.. with Jack Steven (about to leave us?) ....and Geary, our absent Kapitan - our last links to the 2009/2010 era. An era that feels more like 1909/1910 right now. Geez... wow, and all that. We have a stand in coach..a Carlton guy, no less. (Could any club be more contemptuous of St Kilda?) And we are about to finish another incredibly rickety, raggedy season. I never thought much of David as a player early on, but I was a very outer fringe supporter, and didn't pay attention to how much he contributed. Now I am more aware, but then I only had the immortals of GT's young disciples in mind, along with former heroes and a smattering of class (Xavier Clark, Black etc.) It must have been hard to enter a side full of subsidized high draft picks peaking in their careers, yet knowing that the team as a whole were peaked out. And this goes for Gears too. Yet Dave was solid and became - as the front line troops were sold off - a primary player.
I can't see him getting a game now, so I suggest that he be used as a goal umpire against Carlton and a field umpire against Sydney, where, due to the interstate remote locality, it is unlikely he will be noticed.
