AFL must explain Eleni
She is a joke.
Must be SACKED IMMEDIATELY.
She should be banned for life from any association with professional sport.
Those that promoted her to being on the AFL list as an umpire need to be fired immediately also.
I feel like emailing that idiot Gil but he’s got his head up his little bottom - he’ll never see the sun again.
She can get stuffed

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
Its virtue signalling by the AFL, simple! She's not there on merit. Has f**k all feel for the game and doesn't appear to know the basic Rules or give a sh*t about them. She was a disgrace today and had a mate or two!
The concept of gender quotas is idiotic and not to mention a dangerous folly, promoted by idiotic new wave feminists.
We have had a competence issue with Umpires for some time and yet the AFL wants to dilute any talent even further, by playing absurd new wave feminist politics.
I don't know about explaining her, just sack her (and a few others).

Couldn’t agree more. Quotas of any type is garbage. It has to be on merit.Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Sun 11 Aug 2019 6:11pm Its virtue signalling by the AFL, simple! She's not there on merit. By giving a woman an opportunity, they're potentially increasing the talent pool by 50%.
She's not the worst in the caper, and even if she was - it'd probably be about a 2% decrease in performance across the umpiring department at worst.
So a tiny short term hit to performance, with the potential for enormous gain in the future.

I don't care whether the umpires are men, women or martians - I just want the best.
Those who umpired today, collectively, were dreadful. I won't single any out.
I can't believe how bad they all were.

I didn't think she was too bad, particularly in comparison to last time she umpired us.

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
Its akin to a company hiring a person that doesn't speak English well and thrusting them into an inbound customer service role, all to fill some stupid quota that a certain % of people in that role must have a non-Australian/English speaking background.
Its garbage. Just hire the best bloody people for that role that are most suitable.

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
The only problem we have with umpiring is the same one we have always had - spectators who don't know the rules or who are blinded by bias. By and large, the players are far more educated about the rules and don't complain and when they do they are usually trying to cover up an error that they made which led to the free.
If you look at the last two minutes of the game - when it was won and lost - there were potentially thirteen decisions that required adjudication. One free was paid and the rest were play on. Of those, we got the benefit 8 to 4, and two of the 8 should have been frees to Freo. As is often the case in close games - play on is the default call. It's proved over many years to be better that way. A high call could have gone to Ted Potter at the 27 minute mark of the 1966 GF, but play on was called.

FWIW, I think umpiring is just too hard.
I think the AFL put too much on the field umpires. It's silly.

You forget ,all the commentators, apart from That clown from the filth, are ex players and even they were screaming blue murder, but hey, you know better than everyone, including all those at the ground.
I would have thought if you spin a player around 720 that is holding the ball in any game in which the saints aren't playing.

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
She certainly wasn't on her own tonight in the poor umpiring performance overall.
It was really about the decisions that weren't made rather than the ones that were.
Maybe a little gun shy from the last St Kilda game.

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
From afl.com.au
"Five goals were scored in the third term – three to Freo and two to St Kilda – and the lead changed each time. The last of these goals, to Dockers youngster Lachie Schultz, raised the ire of Saints fans after Freo veteran David Mundy was tackled by the shorts for a seeming eternity."
720 f****** degree turn.

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
Lots of confirmation bias with Eleni. Three threads before the game predicting how bad she would be and another three after the game saying “yeah, she was bad”.
I actually had to leave early today for personal reasons and have just watched the incident in the last quarter that everyone is complaining about. The tackle was high, and she paid a high tackle. Freo had the advantage so she paid the advantage. Then the other idiot says she’s got it wrong and tries to overrule. And she says, no it was a high tackle. Free kick to Freo.
She wasn’t perfect for the whole game but she got that 100% correct.

few years then, once she is proven to be ready then fair enough. This isn’t a playground to train people.
She has been abhorrent every game she has been involved in. Ask Carlton supporters, she is hopeless and not even close to being qualified as an afl umpire.

Let’s give a promotion to someone that doesn’t deserve it on merit....
How about we just get the best there is!!!
I don’t care if it’s a donkey!
Forget this quota bulls***. ANYONE can be an umpire in the lower levels, if you are good then you reach AFL.
If that is 99% men or 50% men on merit then who cares.
She is there at the moment as a token for diversity and everyone is worse off for it, not just saints fans.
There has to be better umpires out there. Full stop.

I don't think there is a quota system - what's the quota 1 for every 500? She's the only female field umpire at AFL level, isn't she? And I think there are only 2 goal umps.

He's the Fella who came up with women's lib.. so the US government could increase taxation by 50% by getting women in the workforce... He also stated that then they could control the children while they women were at work to become " ultimate consumers" .. win win for government and multinationals... I worked for Exxon/ Mobil for three decades... one of the first to put female participation over talent
... sounds simple but best person for the role REGARDLESS of gender
From what I've seen she ain't up to it
I used to be supersaints but after 16 years my profile dissapeared... ??? if I make any reference to past posts .. it will be under supersiants.. glad to be back on line

Re: AFL must explain Eleni
Its nothing about increasing the talent pool. Far more women than men don't give a hoot about AFL, so forget anything like 50% This is about attracting women as consumers by sucking up to them with 3rd Wave Feminist doctrines. Such as gender quotas. Trouble is, a great many women don't give a hoot about the 3rd Wave of Feminism.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 11 Aug 2019 6:31pmDisagree entirely.Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Sun 11 Aug 2019 6:11pm
