Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
The whole thing is fishy.
Sounds like he wants out and has spat the dummy.
And now is playing games with us.
But as an AA player we should stand our ground and call his bluff to make sure we get proper compensation.
If we don't get offered adequate compensation we should block his exit.
But if we can get good compensation then show him the door.
Sounds like he wants out and has spat the dummy.

unhappiness and a sense of feeling trapped somewhere you dont want to be are often the pre cursors to depression and mental health issues

Do you reckon that mental health issues and footy are mutually exclusive?

Four time B&F and a Rising Star Nomination...But no AA.

Only cost us $800k a year. It’s only money ... throw in Hanners and there goes $1.6m.

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
‘Insiders’ say he loves the club and loves the players.
He’s a millionaire (unless he’s been stupid) living in Melbourne. Geelong is an hour away and Lorne 2. It’s not like he’s in WA or QLD.
If moving an hour down the road is going to cure what apparently ails him then I’ve got major skeptical hippo eyes.
Something smells a bit fishy and I’m thinking my initial sentence might not be true.
OR he might actually love the place and stay, who knows.

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
I'm not sure why there needs to be such drama also...if he wants to go, and a deal that is mutually beneficial to both parties can be struck, then great...I don't care why he wants to go, he's done a fantastic job over his career, played some great footy in some really awful teams, I'd still love him to remain a 1 club player though.elizabethr wrote: ↑Tue 06 Aug 2019 10:02pm Why the hate for a loyal son of the St Kilda football club ?

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
Richardson’s comments are interesting
But put the position this way
St Kilda are in the market for class players (as are all clubs) so if Steven at 30 years of age was a Geelong player and was mooted to come to St Kilda what would be the response?
Would he represent the ability and profile complimentary to St Kilda?
Or would we respond “too old at 30 and does not fit the profile we are persuading to come to the Club - so we can better deploy our financial resources elsewhere”
And before Hannebery is mentioned, I think he is 28 so 2 years younger which is significant
The extension of this question is Geelong and its List strategy trying to get one final premiership from an ageing side which excels at home but struggles away from home
Note that I have no regard for Geelong - for a raft of reasons but currently my assessment of them and their List is being confirmed - again
St Kilda taking a 28 year old is at the upper end of the profile - taking a 30 year old outside the profile
So what are Geelong doing?
Overestimating their ageing List?
If they are of the view Steven is going to deliver that end of era premiership along with Ablett and their other older players then make them pay the premium - big time
I would trust - and hope - that over the next 2 years if Jack does wish to leave he will regret it as our List and its development leave Geelong in our wake
Our window will open and Geelong’s is closing - including because they are seeking out a (another) 30 year old
St Kilda did that with role players from other Clubs - and look where that got us

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
And just to add, I would prefer Steven stayed at St Kilda to enjoy the ride over the next couple of years - as a mentor and leader of a young side on an upward trajectory
To me he deserves that conclusion to his career

It may be his hair. It doesn't look like its been washed in a while.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
No one really knows what the major dealio is regarding Jack just yet. His life has obviously gone bad in some areas so if we get a good trade deal out if then great.
I don't think he is faking anything btw. He is a club champion and should leave on good terms.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Horrible word 'stink' and the uninformed comments are so disappointing.
Jack Steven has given so much to the club. Great, exciting player.
I really hope he will be back in the centre next year.
Lots of love, Jack. Don't be deterred by small minded nons.
You have a lot of support from ordinary fans. xx

Re: Let's. Face it something stinks about Steven.
Given Jack is in a bad head space and the Saints are doing all the Club can to help him because a) it cares and b) he is a good retention. Would that not then suggest dear Watson, that Geelong are cynically exploiting the situation to woo Jack and lower his price. The case could be made that he is leaving a Club that cares and has nurtured him for one that just wants to use him. You have to hope its the hack journos that are spreading false stories. Geelong would not put pressure on a man suffering depression would it? Of course it has nothing to lose, does it, by being predatory as it has a store of ordinary players, sometimes made to look ok by a few aging champions, that it can trade. And has Lorne suddenly changed after all these years or are journos over egging those ties.
