I know that could be perceived as 'accepting mediocrity', but there's no doubt that being rolled by 22 in Adelaide when you play awfully and the umpires give it to you in the tailpipe - is an enormous improvement.
As bitter a pill as losing is, the signs are good.

Disappointing result but there's plenty for Ratts to work with next year - add Maxy King to that side and it'll make a hell of a difference to the forward line. Now that finals isn't on the agenda, we need to focus on getting games into the young guys.

Still hold hope for a much better year next year. Our players just need to start playing like men and not boys.
Some time soon.

Skills skills & more skills should be our pre season. The sports scientist can f... off, just train our blokes to start kicking low flat passes and quick longer hand balls. Practice practice & practice some more.
Then when we can hit a target consistently then practice hitting up leading forwards, lead cicle back and lead again.
Then when we can do that we practice kicking at goal from every where and tell Gresham to get those chinky criss the body shots out of his system and kick drop punts directly at goal.

We need players to stop shitting themselves when the pressure is on
I think whenever the coaching squad puts the heat on our guys they choke
Just need to harden up and stop being soft when it comes to expectation and finishing skills

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 20 2019
Wasteful. Sloppy ball use and thinking. That was our biggest problem and in particular our forward entries this week. This was the difference between winning and losing
Billings. Too often when marking he just stopped and waited an age before finally kicking by which time everyone was manned up.
Dmac. Not a footballer.
Savage and Wilkie; Both had great games tomight. Savage when moved on a hot Eddie quietened him down.
Battle. Has had a good year, but gave Lynch way too much space.
All our quick players were non-events today. Long giving a soft 50m just when we still had a chance
Mids: Same as we have known for many years we lack two genuine classy mids.

Hunter Clark will be one of these guns very soon. He has shown over the past month that he is special and wins his own ball with style.

He looks to find the best option too.
Saying that, we missed Acres massively tonight.

I don't think there's a big queue in front of him of blokes who have played less than a few bad games this season.saintkid wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:17pmWell, he must have had gastro for quite a few other games this season too.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:14pmHe has gastro at least doesn't he?saintkid wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:12pmSingle Billings out too. Nick Coffield going under the radar a bit but did a couple of good things tonight and coming along nicely - will justify his Top 10 selection in the draft

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 20 2019
Most infuriating thing all night was the big grin on McKenzie’s face as he’s shaking hands after the game - caught it in the background before they interviewed Tex.
Bloke should be in tears after the shift he’s just put in. His 3 year deal is nothing more than stockpiling players for Sandy....

On the bright side it was the 2nd closest we've got to win at Adelaide Oval.

Yeah, there's quite a few that get the fumbles when the heat is on.
Adelaide's pressure through the midfield is what wrecked us.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 20 2019
i agree and that's reflective of our ladder position again this year but as a very highly paid player in his 6th full season, Billings should be making the play, not waiting for the ball to come to him. Does not do enough. Mark my words, Hunter Clark will be worth at least double of whatever Billings worth is to the team very soon.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:37pmI don't think there's a big queue in front of him of blokes who have played less than a few bad games this season.saintkid wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:17pmWell, he must have had gastro for quite a few other games this season too.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:14pmHe has gastro at least doesn't he?saintkid wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 11:12pmSingle Billings out too. Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 20 2019
We simply have too many passengers. Who was playing on Rory Laird 39 disposals off half back.
Carlisle was disgraceful, slow and soft. Starting Battle out of position was a shocker. Long 4 disposals for the game and Ratten puts him in the middle to start the last. All our small forwards were smashed really.
Marshall, Steele, Savage, Dunstan, Membrey & Wlikie our only winners.
