Concussion forces Longer out for the rest of the season
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-07-30/ ... concussion
ST KILDA ruckman Billy Longer is taking a break from the club for the remainder of the season to focus on his health and wellbeing.
Longer, 26, has played just one AFL match this year, the round six loss to Adelaide, in part due to a hamstring injury at the start of the year and the subsequent emergence of Rowan Marshall.
He was then sidelined in late May by a concussion suffered while playing for VFL affiliate Sandringham, and has been dealing with sinus and concussive symptoms since.
"We have been working with Billy as he deals with some physical symptoms that have prevented him from getting back to full training," general manager of football Simon Lethlean said.
"After working with our medicos, the club and Billy have decided that the best approach is for Billy to step away from football for the remainder of the season and concentrate on his health and wellbeing.
"We will continue to support him through our club doctor and make sure he has access to specialists as required."

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Perhaps I'm misreading (between the lines) or that last sentence is poorly worded. That could be misconstrued as Billy has already left the building, not to return.

Good luck to Billy, but I can't see him playing AFL again.
Quite apart from the concussion, he doesnt seem to want it bad enough. Almost any other teams second ruckman would be ahead of him, and I can't see us giving him another contract.

Hasn't been sighted at training sessions for months now. I think he mentally checked out a while ago.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2019 4:20pm Perhaps I'm misreading (between the lines) or that last sentence is poorly worded. Hasn’t been a word on him for two months, I think he’s pulled the pin.
Wonder what SC thinks
Hickey is doing a job for a top 4 team, Longer is pretty much finished as an AFL footballer.
If you had to say at the end of their two careers who was the better AFL player, Hickey would be, hands down ... better on almost every measure.

Looks like the end for Longer. Clearly we need to recruit a (at least semi-) mature ruckman this offseason.. maybe two

We had one. We had Hickey. Sadly another short-sighted decision made by our club ...SuperDuper wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2019 8:17pm Looks like the end for Longer. Clearly we need to recruit a (at least semi-) mature ruckman this offseason.. maybe two

I think if StoneCold (Billy), was still here, he would laugh and still refer to you as an 'Armchair' or Keyboard Warrior Marto!!!!!B.M wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2019 8:14pm Hasn’t been a word on him for two months, I think he’s pulled the pin.

BM = BigMart?
I thought he was Bunk Moreland or maybe even Bob Murray.
