He said he couldn't believe the lack of coaching and development that he encountered when he was fiirst appointed as well as the lack of knowledge with the St Kilda team. He said we were way behind in understanding how other teams train and especially the other teams' gameplans. He was so glad that a professional of the calibre of Billy Slater was there in preseason to help teach some of the players to back themselves and be accountable as leaders.

He said he was worried that the hierarchy had waited too long to get rid of Richo and he thought that some of the behaviours and reluctance to back themselves would be difficult to change. He's pretty confident that he can weed out most of their bad habits in his first full year as head coach. He said the 'sum of all parts' was corporate speak bs as far as he was concerned and he was determined to make a difference to this outfit and lead the Saints to sustained finals appearances in the next 2-3 years

If this is what he really said to the club,
they'd be stunned and embarrassed, because it's a situation that THEY allowed to happen under their watch.
Nobody likes an outsider coming in and telling you what you did wrong.
An outside consultant might say all that, but they only have a look around, say their stuff, and go.

I don't see the club wanting to employ him if he's gonna be critical of how they go about things.

Lethers will NOT like him at all because he's not going to be a puppet.
I imagine Ratts throwing Lethers out of the box one day.

If we beat Adelaide this week then he is most definitely in the box seat and pretty hard to dislodge.

Saturday was a strange one. Appalling skills. Really, for the most part, we were bad, they were worse.

Should have beaten Melbourne by a lot more really. thirty odd scoring shots to 20 and a heap more entries.

Team selection will be interesting this week. Especially with the back six.
