Re: Changes next week
Savage has been good the last couple especially, has done some great things...he'll be a required player if we're to get within 10 goals of the Crows.

Re: Changes next week
I think Savage was given a checking role tonight. Like Aussie Jones, he struggles with balancing that with his run and creativity. Wilkie and Paton are better at it. I'd like to see Sav and Coffield pushed into a rotation on the wing and only have to drop back to support. Looks to me like Sav, Coff, Billings and Langlands could provide some much needed outside run and attacking drive going forward.

Re: Changes next week
He’s not damaging enough though... certainly not anywhere near Aussie Jones. For the most part, Jones at least hurt the opposition as bad as his lack of defensive play hurt him.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 1:43am I think Savage was given a checking role tonight. Savage isn’t damaging and isn’t great defensively either

Re: Changes next week
Steven obviously if he’s ready
Didn’t think Hannebery or Webster we’re near ready to play yet
Battle probably doesn’t come in to replace Newnes or Savage

I'd agree, but the metres gained are there. Take the shackles of defense away and you may just see a different result.skeptic wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 1:48amHe’s not damaging enough though... certainly not anywhere near Aussie Jones. Re: Changes next week
Webster in for Coffield
Battle in for Brown
Hanneberry in for Newnes/Paton
Steven in for Langlands
Let’s not kid ourselves. Melbourne would have won the wooden spoon had it not been for the Gold Coast bye team.
Need the best to beat the crows.

My dead grandmother could replace Jill. Just get him out of the side!
Coff also needs to miss the Adelaide game - he’s not strong enough to play over there

Re: Changes next week
Yeah Coff will struggle. Love the kid and he'll be a player but he's still too light. Preseason or two will fix that soon enough. Melbourne figured out he was the "weakest link" and rolled Petracca and Harmes through him to good effect. Adelaide will do the same. I'd say Webster is his replacement if he's ok to go. Would love to see White but wont hold my breath. If White plays well again today but doesnt get picked, then that ship has sailed.Special wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 8:55amMy dead grandmother could replace Jill. Just get him out of the side!

Re: Changes next week
Don’t understand the lack of respect for Senior players like Savage & Ross, I do understand the frustration over Newness to some degree, but not the vitriol.
Firstly only the inner sanctum know the role assigned to each player and can honestly judge how they performed.
Savage & Ross would not even be in discussion with the match committee, they’d be 2 of 14 or 15 locks with maybe 6 or 7 places discussed.
Savage is a good solid B grade AFL player with a couple of really good traits, one being a penetrating kick.

Re: Changes next week
White is definitely best 22 IMO
Steven for Newnes
If they deem he is still not ready then Parker for Newnes

Re: Changes next week
I can’t begin to imagine what will transpire next week.
Mr Betts will be back. Adelaide are on the rocks, so at home, pride will be there. I’m worried about loose players...The turnovers against Melbourne were plenty, especially in the first half. Although we dominated the final 15 minutes it was pretty touch-and-go for most of the game.
Acres will be gone...I still can’t make up my mind about Parker. He looks wrangly and loose but is that just his swagger or his actual ball play? Is he accountable? Should he be a kind of wildcard? Just haven’t seen much of him yet. Bruce is becoming a monster -good.

Re: Changes next week
Why? He played out the game.
Looking at the Sandy game today the main 2 that have pushed the cases are Battle and Steven.
With Lynch the Crows have 3 tall forwards and I think Coffield will struggle if he has to take on any of them.
Who the Outs will be will be hard as no one deserves.
Newnes was quiet again and if Steven is coming in it is to run.
Battle for say Paton or Coffield. I would like to get some ore games into Coffield though. Paton may be a better much up on the Crows smalls though.

Re: Changes next week
Re Acres...sorry. You may be right. I saw a strapped right shoulder, then I saw him go down, crunch! , on the left shoulder, then winding in pain, with an immobile shoulder, on the bench. I assumed he had been given a pain shot and will be very sore, so ...my bad assumption perhaps..saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 3:29pmWhy? He played out the game.

Re: Changes next week
Considering we have won now 2 in a row and continuity is important , minimal change I would think.
If available:
In :Steven
Out : Langlands
Hasn't done much wrong but someone has to go out and more like for like than others.
Think with Brown, Carlisle and Wilkie can cover 3 bigs if they go with Tex( under the pump) , Jenkins and Lynch.

Re: Changes next week
I am going to stick up for Newnes.
He was given a specific role, according to Ratts.
Act as a defensive forward and shutdown Salem who normally gives the Dees plenty of rebound off the backline.
Newnes did his job and Salem was moved.
I think it is going to be tough to make any changes to this side especially when it's winning games of footy.
That doesn't mean there won't be changes. But whoever gets dropped, will be a tough selection decision IMO.

Re: Changes next week
I don’t know about Newnes, accept mostly, that he gets regularly bagged on here. I think I saw him take a set shot from the outer reaches of F50. I know it’s just one kick, but it didn’t look anything like making it. Is he a decent set shot? If he is playing shut down negative forward he will get important free kicks as the opposition forwards get frustrated. Can he kick?damienc wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 4:11pm I am going to stick up for Newnes.
