Re: Teams for Dees
From saints.com.au
"Ben Long will return to the senior side ahead of St Kilda's match with Melbourne on Saturday night.
The 21-year-old missed last week's game to travel to Darwin and spend time with family following the passing of his grandfather and St Mary's legend, Jack Long Sr.
Long has been selected in favour of Matthew Parker, who has been listed as an emergency.
Josh Battle, Bailey Rice and Darragh Joyce join Parker on the emergencies list, with Battle likely to line up for Sandringham in what will be his first game back from a knee injury.
Experienced midfielder Dan Hannebery continues to build his fitness after completing a full training week but wasn’t considered for selection against the Demons.
Despite overcoming recent soreness, the decision has been made to continue with a block of high-intensity training prior to returning to play.
Jack Steven, meanwhile, will play his second game for the Zebras this Sunday at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
St Kilda will host Melbourne at Marvel Stadium this Saturday at 7:25pm."

Battle is available and not playing! Wow, looks like Ratten isn't looking at 3 tall forwards.

Re: Teams for Dees
White had 32 possessions for Sandy last week but still can't even make an emergency.
I would love to know the background to his constantly being left out.
Parker definitely unlucky too.

Parker very unlucky to miss out. He did so many good things in the match. Just one of those days where things just didn’t fall his way.

Re: Teams for Dees
Disappointed for Parker but happy Hind being afforded an extended run. Obviously does everything right. The bonus of a mature player seizing his opportunity.

Re: Teams for Dees
Hard to change a team that put in like they did Sunday - reward for effort. Natural attrition will have Battle and White in soonish. Parker had one bad turnover, which he may do well to reflect on this week.

If that corrupt maggot had paid him his mark and then had Parker kicked a snag, maybe he would not have been dropped.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 25 Jul 2019 7:49pm Disappointed for Parker but happy Hind being afforded an extended run. Where is the selection integrity, Parker being dropped is a disgrace. Can't believe Newnes gets picked ahead of him.

Yes, I thought Parker was okay. Takes the game on and is dangerous. He'll be back

Re: Teams for Dees
Agree, Parker a touch unlucky, however one could argue he was ‘gifted’ a few games under the Richo regime, when his form probably warranted him being dropped. I have faith in Ratten’s selection. He obviously has a plan which includes Long in the team.

Re: Teams for Dees
Stuv and Dan shouldn't play again this season. Give them the next month to just train and get right. Some game time in the magoos might be alright, but the strategy needs to be all about 2020 now.saynta wrote: ↑Thu 25 Jul 2019 7:33pm From saints.com.au

Re: Teams for Dees
Why? We got games to win. If winning every game we play isn't currently our number one goal it would be very surprising. The strategy for 2020 has to include winning as much as we can in 2019.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Thu 25 Jul 2019 9:31pmStuv and Dan shouldn't play again this season. Re: Teams for Dees
One thing that Ratten did at Carlton was usually reward VFL form.
To not do it now is bizarre.
On form, Parker and White should have been in for Hind and Newnes. White could have done a similar defensive forward role like Newnes minus the falcons.
