Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
Great first up result for Ratts.
What a joy it was to behold!
Attacking football instead of excruciating footy.
Playing on at every opportunity.
Great tackling.
One percenters everwhere.
Running in waves.
Far fewer long bombs into the forward line.
Enthusiasm.
Celebration.
Welcome aboard Ratts.
Hope that is the start of a long and exciting era.

Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
Love that photo on the Saints website from the rooms after the game.
Ratts is surrounded by happy, laughing players spraying water over him.
Picture tells me two things
1) You can sense the feeling of relief from the players as the old stifling negative gameplan is gone.
2) The players genuinely love Ratts

Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
How good was that ????
Not the win, the way we played:
- 11 goals first half, 100+ points for the game
- Attack on the ball and man
- Lowering the eyes, esp. going forward & inside 50
- We were challenged, accepted it & gained control again
- Taking the game on
- Changing the tempo to stop the Dogs run with no panic
I'll stop there, but there was heaps more
Looking forward to going to the footy again, rather than just going

It’s this type of signs IF they continue that seal Ratten for me.....still 5 games to go but if those things start to occur often enough then you know that’s just not coincidenceSaint 58 wrote: ↑Sun 21 Jul 2019 10:57pm How good was that ????

I actually enjoyed listening to Ratts speak during his post-match presser. He’s articulate and has a sense of humour. I hear he is a terrific bloke, too. It’s wonderful to see the lads bonding with their coach like this.

So nice to hear a coach speak English again in the presser unlike the boring tripe we have had to put up with for the last 6 years.Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 22 Jul 2019 2:42am I actually enjoyed listening to Ratts speak during his post-match presser. He was fantastic during the game by keeping a forward line in place which the previous coach would neve have done,
And brilliant after the game.

Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
He had a better system, and the guys knew exactly when to run forward into space.jaxons wrote: ↑Mon 22 Jul 2019 3:30amSo nice to hear a coach speak English again in the presser unlike the boring tripe we have had to put up with for the last 6 years.Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 22 Jul 2019 2:42am I actually enjoyed listening to Ratts speak during his post-match presser. Unlike before when (like the Tigers game) it was just keepings off; AR actually admitted that in his bloody presser
So our ratio of F50 entries to scores, was the highest for the whole year.
Compare that to the Pies game where we were in F50 for 80% of one qtr but got nearly ZERO reward.

Love it. Hope he's a serious contender for the job next year.

Can we call him "The Ratt" or do we have to shorten it to only "Ratts" to avoid offense due to some obscure reference that no-ones ever heard of?

Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
seriously we are dumb if we don't give Ratts the head job. Not because of the win yesterday, look how the players respond under him. We have this ready made head coach sitting there, just give him the gig now and lock him in! Means we can start the new era immediately.
Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
Loved the way he had Membrey and Bruce as last line forwards with space behind them. This was the biggest move for mine. It meant we had crumbers in front then space behind to run into. It also meant when we bombered it in there wasn’t 8 players in the area.

Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
in his presser, he said we hadnt scored 100 points yet,
so he removed himself from forward coaching duties and handed over to Skrobalak,
and "look what happened, I'll keep him there as fwds coach"

If Brett Ratten is appointed new coach, we could refer to the team as the Ratt Pack

We should give him a two year extension

I'm pretty sure we would have being hammered by a side who put pressure on the whole game.
Happy for the win, but that style won't stand up to the good sides.
