Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
I reckon every player in the AFL would have such a clause in their contract.
They say Andrew Bassat is a stickler for good governance. So I'm going to assume basic competence by the Club and assume that given Hannebery's history, they have some cover in the contract for the possibility that he doesn't or hardly plays.

Lethlean deserves a very very very nice Xmas present from the Hannebery family.

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
Let's be real. No player will sign a contract where he will not be paid if he gets injured. No player, or player manager, would be that stupid.Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 1:00pm
Understand your angst. However, I think everyone's assuming Hannebery will get fully paid if he doesn't play.
The most you will save is:
-The player not reaching performance bonuses, which could include aspects such as number of senior game played
- contract extensions by meeting trigger clauses.
Hanna would have cost us a $$$$ this year.
Yes he may well have made more $$$ if he had of won the B+F, played every game etc, but what ever his guaranteed base is will not be low.

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
Absolutely. No way would he be getting the full package.
Still he would probably be on at least three hunjie.
Who cares. I mean, seriously who else are we going to pay?

What a monumental stuff up when the medical department and the physical conditioning department have been hoodwinked into believing that Hanna's was ready to perform for us on the football field when he had failed to do so for nearly 2 seasons with the Swans.
Everyone remembers how frustrated Richo was at the start of this year when his career was on the line and the fact that he was promised a player and the footy department didn't deliver. Richo needed fit personnel and he had been let down by Lethlean imo.
Richo was within his rights to let the footy world know that something was not right with Dan Hannabury. Lethlean was super embarrassed when Richo openly admitted that St Kilda football club did not know the extent of Hanna's problems.
Lethlean had been sitting beside Richo in the coaches box with that smug look and had been standing beside Richo (might as well have been standing on him) during Cho's quarter time addresses and the knife was just getting sharpened and sharpened and Lethlean couldn't wait for the day...

Besides $$$ is not the real issue. The real issue is that he is not playing. That is what hurts.

Not surprised.
Was never going to play to the form he had at Sydney silky fools are we to even consider recruiting him let alone paying him so much.
Oh yes i forgot another job for the mates by Mr Lethlean great judgement.
Well done Swans for making the right decision to off load him.

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
Not sure how hamstring awareness could be indefinite?!
A strain is maybe a week or two
A tear is 3 - 4 weeks, at worse 6 weeks
Hamstring Tendon off the bone 10 - 12
Dan is going to miss 18 weeks of footy with ‘awareness’ not even a clear injury
Sounds fishy?!

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
What with Paddy and Roberton under a cloud and Freeman just delisted after playing two games, the last thing the Saints
needed was another high=priced <edited by mods>
The Saints went out and recruited yet more of them.
Never forget that many pundits including Malthouse openly declared it would be a stupid move to recruit Hannerbury.
Never mind. St Kilda did it anyway.
So here we are. Two games for the year, no guarantee he'll ever be right.
Someone gambled. Someone lost.
Is someone held accountable?

Yes Barks, I was taking the P1SS with the opening comment. If you've read my thoughts on his contract & amount you'd have a very clear idea on my thoughts.barks4eva wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 12:23pmCheap ?Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 11:26am Thank god Lethlean got him cheap. Would be interested to know which way his contract is loaded. We may have paid 1.6mill for this year.
Surely you're joking.
$800,000 a year for four years = 3.2 million for a broken down, injury riddled player way past his prime.
St.kilda also forfeited their 2nd round draft selection position in this years draft which is likely to be pick 20, 21, or 22.
THIS IS NOT CHEAP, particularly for a player who is only going to play two games this year.
I predicted Hannebery would play six games at best this year before breaking down on the day they recruited him.
It was clearly obvious to anyone with a clue that Dan Hannebery was cooked after two very ordinary and injury riddled years.
I was hoping the club/Lethlean would not be so stupid when I first heard they were interested.
Simon Lethlean's decision making is shoddy at best.
The fact that he cheated on his wife is evidence of his poor decision making and is the only reason the club has him in this position at the St.kilda football club in a role he has never held before. Shipped off to St.kilda as a dumping ground to resurrect his corporate career and now the football club has to endure this foolish incompetence and his flawed decision making.
He offered 1.4 million for Dylan Shiel which would have cost the club pick four and Max King.
The only thing that saved him from making another huge mistake was Dylan Shiel rejecting St.kilda's/ Lethlean's offer.
This year Hannebery has cost the club $400,000 for each game he has played.
And you write "Thank god Lethlean got him cheap"
Then there is the matter of Lethlean being good mates with Hannebery's father.
Given Lethlean is good mates with Brad Scott he should not be on the selection committee for the next coach.
Given his decisions on Hannebery and Shiel he should not be on the selection committee of anything to do with this football club.
Both Lethlean and Finnis should be shown the door right now just like Alan Richardson was.
Both of these AFL snake oil salesmen have made horrendous decisions affecting the forward trajectory of the football club.
Is it any wonder the St.kilda football club is looked upon as a basket case when it's had buffoon's calling the shots for almost it's entire history.

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
IF Hannebery doesn't play more than half next season ( barring injuries not related to the hamstring ) then whoever recruited him and the doctors/physios that said they can rebuild him must be moved on.
We are a club with a debt near 11 Million dollars - we have wasted money on trying to get Freeman's hammy's right , now we risk doing much worse on this.
When you are Hawthorn and have won flags and are trying to stay on contention with your list based on age you can risk these type decisions - O'Meara, Scully.
Clearly we cannot

I read many posts from people around the time he was recruited saying at least it didn't cost much which is completely ridiculous.
Lethlean gave up St.kilda's second round draft selection position for Hannebery on top of all the free money for a player who was cooked and anyone with a clue could clearly see he was cooked.
Incompetence on steroids.

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
Are you for real?? Could not bypass this ridiculous 'head in the sand' post. He has had 3 years now to get himself right and is approaching 29 years old. The guy is a shadow of his former self, was placed in cotton wool since last year and only lasted 2 rounds. Thanks to a tainted character in Lethlean, Hannebery's very costly recruitment is proving to be one of the worst in the club's history and could not have come at a more inappropriate or vulnerable time.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 1:00pm He'll be right. Not worth risking this year if not a 100%. Pointless and stupid. Fact is, we need a champion of the game with leadership skills for our young list. Hey, this is the club that thought swapping Ian Stewart for Billy Barrot was a good trade. I reckon Ian would have been worth more than 7 points in the '71 Grand Final?Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 5:41pm What with Paddy and Roberton under a cloud and Freeman just delisted after playing two games, the last thing the Saints

Yeah right and he is going to help us win a flag because miraculously he will happen to still be at his peak in his 30's and that's because his body will somehow go back to the way it was 4-5 years ago, thereby allowing him to play week in week out again. It sure worked this year.
Very, very few top line, broken players recapture their best in their twilight years. Keep clinging to that 5 year plan Ted, you're on a winner there for sure with Hannebery!

Re: Hannebury - Indefinite
I said it earlier in the year - he should not have played this season AT ALL.
I said Geary shouldn't have played again this year either.
They need to bring in the rest of the younger players - White, Rice, Phillips, Langlands, and focus on getting the minutes into the St Kilda yute!
It is all about 2020 now and perhaps it was always going to be.
It's going to be a long 6 matches.
