Team lineup under ratts
How much change do we expect under the Rat?
Does white get a decent run in the 1s
Do some of the suspected Cho favourites get dropped to the twos?
Do we see a new midfield?
Or does it all remain materially unchanged?
Team line up, ins and outs on Thursday should be interesting

Re: Team lineup under ratts
Ratts might take risks because we're expected to lose, so he'll bring in White and Langlands, IMHO
maybe Newnes n Sinclair get demoted

Acres in the guts (NOT rucking) and Gresh up forward would be nice.

Re: Team lineup under ratts
Just as this becomes an opportunity for Ratten, it is also one for the players.
I expect them to play with more freedom and more urgency.
I expect some minor tinkering in his first two rounds and I suspect some positional changes, I see no more than two changes this week & a couple more the following.
I am more looking forward to the last 4 rounds, that is when we will begin to notice differences in style and what players have been freed up.

Re: Team lineup under ratts
I hope he does play Acres in the guts, so people actually see his deficiencies. Bont, or McRae or Dunkley might get 50 disposals.
If White is overlooked and Acres is not in the midfield, can we assume that now two coaches don’t rate them, there is a chance they aren’t THAT GOOD.

Well based on last week the No 1 change should be DMac out. Also based on his recent form.older saint wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 8:00pm Based on performances last week

Re: Team lineup under ratts
the only downside is that he may well coach for results not development, in the hope of getting the main gig. if he seriously isnt interested then he'll play youth.

I hope he's smart enough to realise that didn't work for Richo.desertsaint wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 8:06pm the only downside is that he may well coach for results not development, in the hope of getting the main gig. if he seriously isnt interested then he'll play youth.

Re: Team lineup under ratts
1. Gresh up forward where he belongs
2. Acres in the guts
3. More games into Coffield and Clarke
4. Drop Newnes...for good
5. Drop D Mac
6. No more favorites in the core C grade senior group
7. Give games to players based on performance, rather than 'loyalty'
8. Recruit gun mids, and begin to phase out the Sinclair's and Savages etc

Re: Team lineup under ratts
Expecting no changes except we may win, given we've obviously got a better chance against the bulldogs than against geelong at home. Plus hopefully team likely to be more committed, knowing that with Richo gone they've no excuses.

Yeah play Acres in the middle because we need someone who only runs when they can be bothered doing so, has no defensive accountability and is just lazy. Most overrated player on this forum

Re: Team lineup under ratts
On your view of him we'd get nothing. Do you really think he's not only not in our best 22 but not in our Top 30?
He's had one AFL coach, don't you want to see whether a new coach can get the best out of him? You really see nothing of value in him?

Re: Team lineup under ratts
By the way, I think he's one we could trade for some value but I'd not be letting him go for nothing. I also want to see him settled on the wing or in the middle, rotate him with Gresham in the forward line for the next 6 rounds.
I think he could be very important over the next 3 years.

Re: Team lineup under ratts
Not really, he lacks competitiveness and aggression, he cruises around the ground waiting for someone else to give him the ball.
Hopefully another club, preferably Freo see value in him and cough up a good trade for him.
I was a bit of a fan, not ridiculous like some people calling him GOAT or the next Bont/Fyfe.
But I’ve watched him closely recently, he lacks the will to impose himself on the contest, and does not run both ways. So, more like Michael Barlow than Fyfe

Re: Team lineup under ratts
Fair enough, time will tell. I think a change of voice and settling in a position will do wonders. I think he actually does have a dip, I also believe he makes great position but becomes a victim of poor decisions and rushed kicks by others.
I'll split the difference and say he's somewhere between Barlow and Mundy. No disgrace not being a Bont or Fyfe, they are freaks, Blake is not.
