Collateral Damage
I have a feeling that Finnis isn't going to come out of this that well - with a bit of luck anyway.
As I have said, I do feel sorry for Alan - he was not good enough, but has been cruelly mismanaged by an incompetent administration.

Re: Collateral Damage
Why? Did the admin give Patty concussion? Give Robbo heart problems? Hurt Carlisles back? Give Steven mental health issues? Break Geray's leg?
Did the admin finger us with the free kick count basically every week?

Re: Collateral Damage
I'm hoping the collateral damage is to Lethlean.

Re: Collateral Damage
The admin ruled over this footy club during Richo's tenure. There were opportunities to transition to the next generation of football leaders when Richo was appointed, but the footy club in it's wisdom decided to stick with the status quo with the same on field captain.
The environment did not change from when we were contending to when we were rebuilding. Great planning St Kilda.
The coach lamented the lack of leadership in 2018 when we were 1 win from about 10 matches. Richo was passing the buck and so were all the people backing him at the time, especially the CEO. This footy club needs the right people on the board and in the administration if we are ever going to be successful on field

Lethlean needs to pack his desk and leave for one reason and one reason only: overriding Liberatore on draft selection.

Re: Collateral Damage
Finnis should have his papers stamped for that presser.
If Richo asked him not to mention his family, and he did anyway, then that is a measure of the bloke - what a disgrace.

Re: Collateral Damage
Think you are reading a bit too much into that, I think Richo clarified that he gets emotional when talking about his family and thinking about the sacrifices they made, so he was emotional when Finnis finished talking and wasn't able to make any statement then and wanted to get into questions so he could compose himself. Seemed from the rest of the presser that they were on relatively good terms.

Re: Collateral Damage
When Finnis threw to him, the first words from Richo's mouth was "I will throw straight to questions, because I asked Matt not to talk about my family".

Re: Collateral Damage
Well aware of what he said as I was watching it too and thought it was a bit strange. I think his answer later on clarified it more, but clearly your opinion of Finnis is set so this will suit your narrative.

You can apply for his position if he resigns.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Collateral Damage
Richo has exited the club in an admirable way. Well handled by the club. The injuries this year cruelled his chances, but 6 years is enough. There may be some changes with Assistants depending on the new coach, but I see no reason to change the administration, can't see any issue with Finnis ,Lethlean , Basset, imo we are heading the right direction.

Oh, but SS1986 is apparently applying for Finnis' role.

Re: Collateral Damage
The interesting thing is that whilst I'm sure our Admin has been successful in other walks of professional life ... none of them have been successful in their present roles at other football clubs because by definition - they haven't done the job before. Let alone at a successful club.Scollop wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 12:51pm The admin ruled over this footy club during Richo's tenure. That directly flows to leadership and development of it. That Geary was our next best option after Roo let the Captaincy go says everything about how inept we are as a club and a football program. Right now - I feel like J Roughead could come from the Dawks right now and be a more effective on-field leader of our club.
Go you red, black & white warriors

I know you didn’t ask me but just my thoughts on the question.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:56pmDo you reckon King will be better than Rozee?Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:30pmConnor Rozee comes nowhere near Max King, not even close.
King played his earlier junior footy as a midfielder & has a tremendous amount of agility. He marks at the highest point & is near on impossible to beat when he’s got a run at it. His preparation & professionalism is Nick Riewoldt level. If he gets a clean run at it he will be a generational player.
Lethlean overruling the recruiter is the best thing he’s ever done. Big picture is we will also get a future AA CHB in his twin brother. It’s a two for one deal.

Spot on there, I know for a fact Port were praying we would pass on Max King as they had the next pick.Myron Gaines wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 3:16pmI know you didn’t ask me but just my thoughts on the question.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:56pmDo you reckon King will be better than Rozee?Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:30pmConnor Rozee comes nowhere near Max King, not even close.

How you described him is exactly how he plays, he will be unplayable at times.
202 com that runs like the wind, hard & fast & for long periods & marks at the highest point & is a saints tragic, he is one of us!!
Lethelan has balls he put it on the line I back him on that one.

Re: Collateral Damage
Richo/Finnis relationship looked fine to me. Finnis’s biggest mistake was extending Richo at the end of 2017.

Easy, by some margin. His brother (Ben) is also better than Rozee.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:56pmDo you reckon King will be better than Rozee?Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:30pmConnor Rozee comes nowhere near Max King, not even close.

Yup, he wasn’t given Riewoldt’s number 12 for no reason.Vazelos wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 3:28pmSpot on there, I know for a fact Port were praying we would pass on Max King as they had the next pick.Myron Gaines wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 3:16pmI know you didn’t ask me but just my thoughts on the question.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:56pmDo you reckon King will be better than Rozee?Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 2:30pmConnor Rozee comes nowhere near Max King, not even close.
