Saints’ bid to lure Roughead
JAY CLARK JUNE 20, 2019
St Kilda has launched a bid to bring Hawthorn premiership star Jarryd Roughead to the club next season in a key off-field role.
The Saints have registered their interest with Roughead’s manager, Craig Kelly, about him joining the club in a potentially multi-faceted football role after he retires.
The position could include coaching, leadership and list management duties.

I'd take him as a player..... with the view to engaging him as a coach. This guy is an absolute class act as a person and as a player, IF there is any chance of snaring him for 2020 I'd do it !!! Look at the difference someone like Luke Hodge made at Brisbane

We have King, Mayo, Battle all to get games into.
Plus Roughie is cooked as a player.

Don’t want him to play. Stand in the way of development, and he is like Armo, Father Time has caught up with him. There’s a reason why he’s played twos this season. He’ll be 34 next year.
Would love him in an off field role. Either development or forwards coach.

What’s the point of even discussing Roughy coming to the club, a new coach will hopefully put a broom through the place and bring in his own assistant coaches.
The only ones who I’d keep on would be Slater and Ratten, the rest can f*** off with Richo

Which is what worries me.
Scenario One is that they already know who the new coach will be and he is ok with Lethlean chasing extra help now.( Please, please not be Scott).
Scenario Two is that they do not know yet who the new coach is, but are charging on regardless. If so this seems extremely odd.

Roughead's manager has met with the Saints.
He may or may not come of course, but it is obviously a fair dinkum offer to Roughie.
