Carlisle Playing this week
I have some pretty strong intel Carlisle will play this week.
AR is coaching for his future & knows this game is crucial for the season.
Hannabery will come in & Carlisle I believe should go FF & hopefully that takes Bruce & Membrey to play on the 2nd & 3rd tall defenders & hopefully get them off the leash.
6 wins 6 losses its now or never for AR.
It really comes down to the next 2 weeks if he has a chance.

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
Unless he plays as a wild card forward I’m nervous about him being selected. However, of course, if he can deliver and not get re-injured it sounds like madness or to choose him.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

If they keep Brown at FB, then Carlisle or Battle go forward.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Why wouldn’t you play him. He’s got through a week at Sandy and been passed fit. We’re still a chance for finals (lol) and he’s a gun. I hope either he or Battle plays forward

I was at Sandy and both Hanners & Snake looked too slow and not AFL ready at this stage.
I’d give them both another week in the magoos

Worried about this. Not a doctor but seems quick to be back at AFL already.

Geary- rushed back in after injury.
Yeah, AR is a brilliant coach in managing players coming back after injury, hey

In fairness, AR didn't kick the back of Geary's leg which caused his latest injury.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 19 Jun 2019 7:25pm Geary- rushed back in after injury.

I agree with this - but surely it's not up to AR to decide which players are available.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 19 Jun 2019 7:49pmGears was off the pace, looked very unprepared, no wonder he was run down from behindWayne42 wrote: ↑Wed 19 Jun 2019 7:39pmIn fairness, AR didn't kick the back of Geary's leg which caused his latest injury.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 19 Jun 2019 7:25pm Geary- rushed back in after injury.

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
This Coach bashing really goes over the top
I have my doubts based on Richardson and his view of the likes of Geary (as the team Captain) based on courage alone and not on all round footballing ability (so run, carry and disposal)
And his preference for Longer over Hickey which was an extension for his apparent like of trusts over class
These are symptomatic
However I do understand the demographics of the side in that we require experience (hence Geary, Brown as 30 year olds with the experience they have and even Newnes, now well over 100 games so one of our experienced brigade
How many others have crossed the 100 game mark?
To put blame on the Coach for the plight of Geary is, however, over the top
To me some supporter expectation is unrealistic
Over the last few seasons we have lost the last class of a very good side - leaving us with Geary as a home grown 30 year old approaching 209 games (noting Steven unavailable and Armitage basically playing VFL)
We are a side which is gathering - and not with much luck
The problem with Geary playing may have been the insistence’s of the player firstly then the reputation he has with the Coach plus he is the Captain
So did Geary tell the Coach - having satisfied the medical staff?
And the Coach took his Captain’s word - because the Coach always does given his praise of the Captain
Should the Coach have said “A week at least in the VFL”?
The assessment is that it was not the injury - it is the reference to “under done”
So 2 themes come together
The Coach and the Captain
To put all “blame” on the Coach appears to me to be a factor of “we should be winning premierships after 6 years so sack the Coach” not a reasoned assessment of the facts
In terms of captaincy I am one of the view that the leader should be one of “generation next” not “generation past”
And let’s get on with framing the side we want on the park come the end of this year and into next year - with fingers crossed for Steven, McCartin and Roberton and their recoveries
Then the Coach, the football department and the administration will give confidence to me - at least

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
Geary should not have played. Full stop, the end.
I dont think Jake is ready yet. He was cooked at half time at Sandy. Looked like he was gonna puke at quarter time.

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
Neither Carlisle nor Hannebury should play this week - and probably not at all this season.
We've won 6 matches by trying different players. Bigred is right - Geary should not have come back so quickly and it was a major stuff up and how has that worked out?
Bruce also needs to come out of the team and get over his injury. Every week he is getting worse.

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
It astonishes me that internet forum contributors think they know more about Jake Carlisle's health and fitness than the highly qualified medical staff at a professional sporting organization.
If Jake is fit to be selected this week, he will be. If not, he won't. It's that simple.

Fair point but our medicos track record isn't great. Our injury list is huge, sure some are from accidents and sh@t happens but not allBeno88 wrote: ↑Thu 20 Jun 2019 9:18am It astonishes me that internet forum contributors think they know more about Jake Carlisle's health and fitness than the highly qualified medical staff at a professional sporting organization.

Didn't see sandy game so don't know how they held up but just seems quick to get Jake in. Plus all things considered it's not the backs needing fixing as much as mids and forwards.
If dan is fit enough he plays but he needs to be fitter than at the swans as he will have to a lot more work to cover our mids

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
liking the sounds of these guys coming in. especially if it means we get an additional forward/fill in ruck to take pressure off roma bruce and member.
as per Geary playing, if he's fit he's in for a Marquee game in China. It's the captain and he has extra responsibility, it was unfortunate he was injured but it wasn't the same injury or leg?

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
Is limited game time in the firsts a sin? I mean, would it serve us better to play Jake C two and half quarters in the seniors (both to win the game at hand as well as get him match ready going forward) than select him to play a full game at Sandy, presumably at a slower tempo?

Re: Carlisle Playing this week
There is some risk to play them both but it gives us a chance people criticise AR for being too conservative well now he is going for it.
Structurally it’s massive having Big Jake back.
