So if you call our trash “Contributions” which is very basically what this Forum is about, you find yourself banned

Absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The only people banned are those that break the rules of the forum. Feel free to open a thread with your complaint in the Administration Forum and I shall happily discuss it.To the top wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 6:40pm So if you call our trash “Contributions” which is very basically what this Forum is about, you find yourself banned

Re: Sandy V Werribee
surely there is less chance of injury at AFL? better conditions, better skills and tighter regulations and umpiring.
why train a racehorse at a cowboy meet? his brother seems to be progressing well

Re: Sandy V Werribee
His brother hasnt had an ACL/Medial reconstruction and had a bigger stronger core than Max to start with. The surgeon that did Max's op said he had a 60% chance of it recurring. Taller players appear more likely to have another injury so it was a gamble to take him to start with. Opposition will know his core strength is susceptible and target him. There is no way of completely protecting him but I wouldn't allow him to play AFL this year, give his body time to mature and strengthen.
Lets hope the risk with selecting Max becomes a sucess, rather than another St Kilda recruiting disaster!

Re: Sandy V Werribee
A few of my thoughts. I struggle with the numbers but noticed the following:
Hannebery must come straight in. He didn’t have heaps of it but is just a class (or three) above. Good skills and hard at the pill. He’s the most vocal leader out there. At one point he schooled Paton where to stand, next minute the ball goes straight to Paton all on his own. He’d improve us straight away.
I’d bring Carlisle in too. He looks a bit undercooked and seemed to be taking it a bit easy but he just reads the play so well and his skills are first class.
I thought Long was okay but butchered the ball.
Coffield is beautiful with his attack and evasiveness, but needs to lower the eyes with his delivery. He seemed to get better as the game went on. Will be good for us. Not sure why he struggles at the next level.
I really like Clavarino. Took a really nice mark in defence. Has nice skills and good vision. I reckon he’ll be a player. Just needs a bit more time - still a fraction raw.
Rice was all over the shop. Looks fat and unfit but is naturally gifted. Does some great stuff but horrible the next minute. Will get chopped I think which is a shame because he has the tools. Maybe not the motivation to be an AFL player.

Anyone can injure their knee if they get tunneled or another player falls on thir legs ffs.mightysainters wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 4:55pmThis.. which is what I’ve been banging on about, but people will tell you we have drafted well... joke of an admin we have..Annoyedsaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 4:45pm How about drafting someone that is injury free to start with.....? Take a diabetic, one whose back is stuffed and one with an ACL
Honestly, take someone that is fit!!!
Recruitment staff can get in the bin.
Just watch people will harp on how this is ‘unlucky’ ignoring the fact you’re 10x more susceptible to re do a knee..
Anyway it's supposedly only bone bruising.

Given he has a twin brother taking a 60% risk chance of recurrence over him is not logical.

Re: Sandy V Werribee
From afl.com
State league affiliate: Sandringham (VFL)
This weekend: Sandringham v Werribee - Sunday, June 16, 2.10pm, Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval
Three-time All Australian midfielder Daniel Hannebery showed some good signs when he picked up 23 touches during Sandringham's 24-point loss to Werribee.
Fellow veteran Jake Carlisle (15 disposals and seven marks) got through his first game back from injury unscathed, while young gun Nick Coffield impressed with 21 disposals.
There were concerns for boom teenager Max King when he left the game early with a knee injury, but those fears were allayed later on Sunday when initial scans came back positive.

Have you got a quote from the surgeon? That seems like a very high number.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 7:17pmHis brother hasnt had an ACL/Medial reconstruction and had a bigger stronger core than Max to start with. As I wrote in another thread, that was a really ugly incident and if there is no structural damage it’s a great sign for Max and the success of his previous surgery.saynta wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 7:21pmAnyone can injure their knee if they get tunneled or another player falls on thir legs ffs.mightysainters wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 4:55pmThis.. which is what I’ve been banging on about, but people will tell you we have drafted well... joke of an admin we have..Annoyedsaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 4:45pm How about drafting someone that is injury free to start with.....? So much for client confidentiality...have you got the surgeons name? I don't want to use that guy for my next top secret knee reconstruction!Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 7:17pm The surgeon that did Max's op said he had a 60% chance of it recurring.

He set my broken wrist in 1984 and I haven’t had a problem since.

"60% chance of reoccurring".
I'm calling bulls*** on that statement. Absolute bulls***.

It's almost literally saying it might happen, but it might not.
Pretty much like everyone.
But my understanding has always been that ACL surgery makes the injured knee thr stronger one.

Re: Sandy V Werribee
Good thing we can use actual evidence and not random poster quotations and anecdotes...
Population based cohort study over 10 years finds 20-30% chance of recurrance (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5564962/)
Study of athletes over 10 years finds 1-10% chance of recurrance (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6024527/)
Study of ~100 soccer players finds younger and male players that had ACL injuries more likely to make a successful return to playing. Around 12% had follow up knee surgery. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3692367/)
