Carlisle to return via the VFL this week if he gets through training, Jack Steven is back at the club, while Hannebery and King are a chance to play against Brisbane. Good news all round.

I know good news is a sensitive issue on SS these days but I really hope that this type of news can unite us to be positive about our chances to a strong finish to the year.

Yep, Sam McClure on twitter 2 hrs ago
"Jack Steven training at club for first time in 2 mths" etc
This is brilliant.
Not sure about Winx, he's still a stick insect, raw-boned teenager.
If he gets Harris Andrews, he's in for a torrid time

Clearly the coach has his fingerprints all over this. Make no mistake, this will be an unmitigated disaster.

It's good news, but unless King puts in a couple of blinders, I would hold off for a bit longer. There's no need to rush him.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Agree.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:56pm It's good news, but unless King puts in a couple of blinders, I would hold off for a bit longer. There's no need to rush him.
He's at that age where he's not really strong enough to play against men.
Pre-season is when young guys hit the weights to build muscle, which he really needs.
Seniors too early could do all sorts of harm.

I'm pretty sure we said similar things about our number 1 draft pick back in the '01 season and he was pretty skinny and was on the comeback from a knee injury.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 7:04pmAgree.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:56pm It's good news, but unless King puts in a couple of blinders, I would hold off for a bit longer. Dunno about that. His brother who is his exact mirror image is doing ok with the suns.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 7:04pmAgree.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:56pm It's good news, but unless King puts in a couple of blinders, I would hold off for a bit longer. Major difference is that he didn’t have the last year off footy, and did a preseason with the club. An uninterrupted journey to where he is now.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 7:45pmDunno about that. It also set Jack Watts back his entire career.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 7:37pmI'm pretty sure we said similar things about our number 1 draft pick back in the '01 season and he was pretty skinny and was on the comeback from a knee injury.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 7:04pmAgree.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:56pm It's good news, but unless King puts in a couple of blinders, I would hold off for a bit longer. I'm also not sure it did McCartin any favours & he had stolen all the King brothers puppy fat.

Harris a stick insect himself. Would be interesting to see two stick insects intertwined. Could look like some sort of copulation.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:35pm Yep, Sam McClure on twitter 2 hrs ago

Re: Carlisle to play VFL This Week + More Good News
Good news re Carlisle and the rest of the boys. What about Jimmy Webster?
Re Carlisle, it will be interesting to see where we ask him to play.
He’s not so vital to defence now Battle has emerged as a player and Brown, for the most part, has been pretty solid. If it was me I’d be asking him to play second ruck/resting forward.
Our season is not quite dead yet and I think he could really add something in that role with a possible unlikely push for finals.

I think Brown goes out when Jake comes in.
Brown is ok in a one on one but absolutely hate it when he has the ball in his hands, simply does not know what to do!!

Re: Carlisle to play VFL This Week + More Good News
Jack Steven training again is great news for him. He may never truly get over his mental demons but at least he can control them. Good luck to him and hope he takes his time and comes back when he is ready
Carlisle will be a touch rusty and I am hoping he doesn't try to do too much. Take it easy game one and you will be back in the tri colours soon enough.
The prospect re committing is just champagne news. Marshall has not filled a hole he has made it his own
Winx I hope doesn't play AFL for a while. I have see him at sandy and he is thin compared to the others. He also gets yelled at lot, not in a negative way but where he should be standing or where he should be leading too. Not a knock on him he is young and green and is learning the ropes. Give him at least half a dozen games in vfl as he needs to walk before he can run

Brown has very high pressure act numbers, he got 22 against Pies I recall, but his disposal isn't reliable.
Drop him for Jake

I hope they don't debut too early.
