I’ve just received word............
If we lose to Gold Coast Ratten will be coach come
Monday. Take that to the bank. I believe it’s the
wrong move but our Pres has made up his mind.

Re: I’ve just received word............
That's a huge call. I don't know which bank to take it to. Can I at least stuff it under my mattress? Seriously, though, it would be poor timing, in my view. The only reason I can think they'd do it now is if another club has its hooks into Ratten and we're scared of losing the one guy who's actually got a proper handle on things in our football department

Tricky for Ratten, if true. He has a strong relationship with Richardson. I wonder if Richardson understands where his tenure sits. Would he graciously step aside for Ratten if the club indicates to him that they will not offer him the one year option in his contract?

I don't know whether it's pride, stubbornness or something else, but Richo wouldn't fall on his sword if we lost the next 30 games in a row by a 100 points a game.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 5:00pm Tricky for Ratten, if true. As to timing, I'd prefer we act sooner rather than later. I wouldn't be surprised if both Carlton and North were into Ratten and we kinda get first crack with him already on the payroll. It would be a nice show of faith too and an early audition. No need to delay the inevitable for mine.

Re: I’ve just received word............
There are only so many games and losing seasons a team can have before the supporters turn. Richardson has had a pretty fair run and largely without success and limited positive development. Sometimes the grass is greener elsewhere. Not sure on Ratten though. Looks like a good No.2 for the rest of his career. ( which is ok). If the sacking does happen, I would think we need to broaden the options beyond Ratten.

Re: I’ve just received word............
There is a school of thought that suggests that St Kilda should be more "mature" about the senior coach tenure and delay a change until the end of the season.
After the debacle in Shanghai, where the club's President and directors would have felt quite humiliated by the poor performance of the team, in front of a large contingent of Australia's leading corporate figures brought to China by the AFL Commission, I fully expect that there would have been a major review of the football department by the board. The future of Alan Richardson would have been discussed, he may even have been asked to make a presentation of his plans to get his team back in winning form - that's the role of the Board acting on behalf of the sponsors, members and supporters.
As I have posted elsewhere, Townsville on Saturday afternoon against the GC Suns may well be AR's Waterloo - unless the team plays well and shows determination and a higher level of skills, in other words take the contest up to the Suns, then it is more than likely AR will not survive to coach in round 14. And to my mind, rightly so - I have nothing against the man, from all reports he's a decent bloke, but the name of the game is "success" and St Kilda in recent years has been anything but successful. On the other hand, if St Kilda beats the Suns then obviously AR will survive to fight another day, and that's only fair....

Re: I’ve just received word............
If that decision really has been made, then we should make the change immediately.
No coaches tenure should rest on a single result - winning or losing vs the GC doesnt make a difference if Richo is the right man to lead our club forward. Either he is, or he isnt, and this weekend's game means no more or less than Round 1 of his first season, or any other single match in his time at our club.
So either the OP is making it up, or the decision has been made for a while, and it's just a matter of "optics" - and losing to the GC is a convenient platform for change. Same as losing to Carlton would have been, and losing to Port may have been enough if not for the food-poisoning debacle.
My personal opinion is that the latter is happening, and the Scott/Lethlean connection will be reunited in 2020, with the majority of our assistants staying on. I don't have any info, it's just my gut feel. Ratten will make a fine interim coach but I don't think he wants that gig permanently (at any club).

I should also mention that Ratten would be a caretaker coach with no guarantees. Sorry, I should have included that in my OP.

I've just got off the phone to someone who would know if there was even the slightest amount of truth to the OPs claim. Nada.

I've just received word that this is just another "rumour" created by those obsessed to see the coach sacked.

Maybe we have seen the improvement in Nth & the Blues after the coaches overstayed their welcome!

Re: I’ve just received word............
This shouldn't be conflicting.
Also, it should not really hinge on the result of one game.
We have travelled too far down the road to be banking on just one step.
