Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
Rumour file from today.
Please no. Ross WILL actually take Carlton somewhere. Why can I see this happening...

While the timing of the catch-up is sure to raise eyebrows, it was an innocent meeting between two close friends.
More than just good mates, Silvagni and Lyon are also business partners; both own part of the Lord Newry Hotel in North Fitzroy.

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
Ross asks SOS to be Freo's recruiting manager and to bring his talented sons with him. Or not? It was just coffee. Ross ain't sentimental and SOS ain't influential no more.

Yep. Just a couple of old pals catching up over sushi and dimmies two days after Bolts was sacked. Nothing in it.

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
Ross is buying some insurance in case he bombs out and doesn't make finals for the last 2 years of his contract.
Snake oil salesman wants nuffies to flood radio station callback lines with all the usual speculation and rumours. Lyon asked Steve for a favour so he can start negotiations on an extension at Freo or basically test the market in Melbourne for his services
I heard they had burgers. Not fish and chips

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
I'd bet my bottom dollar that if it was a genuine meeting about Ross coaching the Blues, it wouldn't be in such a public place.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Tue 04 Jun 2019 11:25pmSo you know what they were talking about? Don't discount the Ross. When has he ever cared what anyone thinks?
Lyon is a tough bastard and a c***. He doesn't give a s***.

Maybe, maybe not.
Who the f*** would really know.
Friends catch up.
BTW. Carlton also need to give Silvangi, Judd, Barker etc the boot.
The Saints need a bit of a clean out to.

Not sure where you got that info from Scollop! My younger sister that lives in Wallan rang me in Brisbane last night to tell me that she was at her aquarobic class and her best friend told her that her neighbour's grandson whose mate "Snapper", a mad Blues supporter, works at the Sea Salt Fish Cafe as a kitchen hand and was all excited to see SOS come in with the Freo coach and reckon that SOS had the Wellbeing Warrior - (fish of the day John Dory) and Lyon had the Katsu Curry (he asked for extra chillie).....he noticed they didn't share their meals; Snapper apparently tried to discreetly overhear what they were saying and heard mention of $10 million and the names Fyfe and Walters but not much else.
Make of this what you will.....

Is that the same "Snapper" who used to call up SEN all the time?Sanctorum wrote: ↑Wed 05 Jun 2019 11:20amNot sure where you got that info from Scollop! That's right Ted, his other mates are Whale, Flattie, Sharkie, Trout, Coddie and Mullet. but definitely not Goldfish....they also used to feature in talkback with the Coodabeen Champions back in the 90s.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Wed 05 Jun 2019 3:27pm

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
Spot on chook.
So Carlton sack their coach and old mates SOS & Ross catch up for a bite and 1+1 now = 4.
Laughable
Ross would not meet in public if there was anything underhanded in regard to this meeting, he’s too cunning and clever.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Ross after an extension?
Public lunch with an official of a club that just sacked its coach...who'd've thunk the meedja would report it?

Yes...silly story...Ross has no form in meeting officials from other clubs and seriously considering jumping ship while under contract with an extension...oh wait.
Doubt he will leave Freo though. Finally have a half decent listand playing reasonable football.

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
He is multi-tasking and knows well enough that coaches on the “Good” side of the ledger all have had a little boost of hot air these past few weeks, whether they like it or not. I can’t remember the details of when he left us but I think we had three, four years on the table with a few ‘ifs’ thrown in. Using that offer, I am sure the leverage with potential suitors like Freo was handy.
Ross Lyon remains a strangely charismatic and even ‘charmed’ character in the footy media landscape IMO. Freo have dropped a few pegs for sure, but still Ross has kept his Boss persona. Weird logic in the ways of the world. JFK can bang anything and be praised, if Nixon dated cast a lecherous eye he would be lynched!

Re: Ross Lyon lunches with SOS Silvagni today
Not sure why you would bother with Lyon.
He took a team with a good foundation (StKilda) and did a great job of getting them to a couple of Grand Finals.
As soon as it was clear they needed a rebuild he jumped ship.
He went to Freo which had an ok foundation and has run them essentially into the ground.
Now they need a rebuild and he appears to want out.
Now he is moving to Carlton that has a good foundation. ......
I just dont see him as the massiah.
