Re: Jack Stevens Trade
I mean obviously I can’t categorically be certain of that but you have to take into account Ratts is currently our forward line coach. Interesting.
I can however start the rumour mill going by telling you we have certain members of our club who have shared a coffee with two senior coaches and one assistant coach. And I’m pretty certain that that’s the least I know. Our President May appear meek and mild but he does not accept mediocrity.

Pretty much I think. Luke played at the Bulldogs before he joined the Saints. Maybe history will repeat?

What percentage chance do you give Richo being at our club next year Tony?

Re: Jack Stevens Trade
When you occupy Coaching positions (and Captaincy) what you can not do is have favourites
No one is above rigorous assessment - regardless
And that rigorous assessment is the responsibility of the Head Coach who drives the agenda
Where I have my problem with Richardson is that it appears to me he has favourites - and that is not tenable
When you are a Coach (or Captain) you have no friends
Being “nice” does not cut it
To be successful you have to be ruthless - with both criticism and with praise
The Scoreboard is there, and that is the determinant
Richardson leaving his Station to visit Geary was just plain wrong
Geary was then the sole responsibility of the medical staff - that is what they are employed to do
If Geary had been taken directly to hospital would Richardson jumped in the ambulance?

LOL
ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

If not then why not?
Sam Mitchell should be the top priority!

I did some work with Andrew way back when he was at Corrs & recently hired a former Executive from Seek who has provided some insight.
Andrew like most successful Business people is intelligent and unrelenting and definitely does not accept mediocrity.
I think Richo has been given an extremely fair and extended run as coach and I think this is very important if we want to attract a strong candidate as his replacement as they will be looking for stability and support at all levels of the club.
Good insight on the posts in this thread!

Re: Jack Stevens Trade
A dear friend of mine (Geelong supporter) has many AFL connections through business and his passion for the game. I got some reliable info from him about Jack Steven regarding Geelong's interest in Jack and Jack and Richo.
His information about Geelong's interest came from Stephen Wells, Geelong's Head of List Management.
Through the media reports Geelong heard that there may have been friction with Jack. They had no inside info and didn't know if it was true. So they thought they'd have a crack at him. They contacted his Manager and had the door slammed in their face immediately. There were no further discussions contrary to media reports.
In regard to Jack & Richo, his information came directly from someone (he knows) who was the ITK behind most of the info leaking from the Club last year. Most of you would know of this person (its not Mark Fine). The ITK claimed he had heard this from someone who witnessed the exchange between Jack & Richo.
Let's just say that Jack came into the meeting frustrated and misinformed about the Club's plans (thinking they were starting the rebuild again) and let the Coach have it. Richo didn't cop it and returned fire (he was apparently very 'strong in the contest') asking Jack a few hard questions.
They thrashed it out like men. Then in the end shook hands like bloody men and agreed to get on with it.

Re: Jack Stevens Trade
True, Richo has had a good run - in terms of years (especially when you consider he was at St Kilda) - but I think he would have had a better run if he was at the Hawks or at one of the other successful clubs.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Tue 04 Jun 2019 12:55pm I think Richo has been given an extremely fair and extended run as coach and I think this is very important if we want to attract a strong candidate as his replacement as they will be looking for stability and support at all levels of the club.
I know we want to attract a strong candidate, but how are we going to determine this - and, maybe, when it comes to St Kilda, you could safely ask - who will be the next sucker?
I mean we got all of our last 13 coaches in a row (since Alan Jeans) wrong - 12 of them have been sacked and one abandoned ship.
There must be another issue at play that we're not identifying or ignoring - could it be our recruiting?
What are we getting wrong, time in and time out?
What is the constant here?
How many A graders have we poached from other clubs over the last 12 years, say - compared to the Hawks, etc..?

I do hope Harvs is our next coach, whether its next year or the year after. He's done his apprenticeship.

Re: Jack Stevens Trade
No doubt our Prez is definitely a results-driven businessman and he built his empire on getting people on board who achieve success quickly. He will not be sitting there thinking Richo is doing OK.tony74 wrote: ↑Tue 04 Jun 2019 12:17am I mean obviously I can’t categorically be certain of that but you have to take into account Ratts is currently our forward line coach. Re: Jack Stevens Trade
Thanks Tony. The difficult thing with this situation is, if Alan is aware, which I'm sure he is, can we expect his full commitment to the role?
