WTF Young and Long IN!!
Young was useless last week and is gifted a game. Clueless again after the Long tokenism last week.
And Long didn’t do much to warrant selection either.
Onya bike Richo, I’ve had a gutful of the selection crap

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
very puzzling selection....
....Acres out should really be the headline.....a big blow for the Saints given he's effectively our 2nd ruck. And he's being replaced by a mid-sized amputee and I've got no idea who we might use in the ruck.
Perhaps our selection panel have decided to pick a short and fast tackling team, and they're punting on out-running Port.
A big gamble, personally I would have dropped Long and Young for Hunter Clark and Geary and Joyce to replace the ill Acres, then asked Joyce to back up in the ruck.

WTF most appropriately applies to the over the top reaction of the poster.
Long was not our worst and is a big part of our future. Young was quiet but second game and showed alot in his first, so worth the faith I believe. Acres ill. Suggestions of tokenism is highly offensive.

Where to start...what a NFI ridiculous thread.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

A bit over the top.
Both these guys bring a lot of energy to the team. They could turn it on.
I actually like the look of Young.

Whatever twirlyhead. Everyone knows Longs form was really poor for Sandy. I feel sorry for you if you can’t see it was blatant tokenism. It’s friggin obvious buddytwirlyhair wrote: ↑Fri 31 May 2019 6:44pmWTF most appropriately applies to the over the top reaction of the poster.

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
Unfortunately the inclusions of Long and Young show where we are at, at the moment. Both players show promise but don't deserve a game after last week and Long hasn't done anything all year.
This obsession with fwd pressure is all well and good, but the players have to bring something else to the team. We now have 3 players in the fwd line who apply 'pressure' in Parker, Long and Young. All are inexperienced and all are very inconsistent. They look exciting, but in actual fact often make poor decisions with the ball and more often than not execute poorly. They are all fast, lively types, so it's obvious that Richo believes that we were too slow last year and is trying to rectify that. On that basis I can live with the selections but understand the OP's frustration.

Look I’d love a good bit of banter with you Pav, but that sort of talk is verboten on the forum sadly,,,
I hope you don’t get banned - I wasn’t offended by it!

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
If we weren’t kicking 9 or 10 goals almost every week then Richo could justify the plan. But we that’s all we are getting. Add in a very inconsistent Kent and low output Bruce and it’s beyond fragile up forward.Moods wrote: ↑Fri 31 May 2019 7:48pm Unfortunately the inclusions of Long and Young show where we are at, at the moment. Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
Have the haters actually thought that maybe Alan, his assistants and the selection committee purposely pick what they think the best side is every week?
What is best for team balance?
Fitness?
Match ups?
Opposition?
Crazy ideas I know but think and contemplate about it! What would they know though...they only train and work with these blokes every day of the week and have countless years of AFL expierence between them.

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
Blake is ill, not sure if this has been reported or not on here.
Clark and Coffield aren't there yet, just remember Joey playing 2's for an extended period, didn't hurt him, so let's hope it's the same for these two. It will make them hungry, that's for sure.

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
Some Port men are going to be very nervous when Longy is in the vicinity - see big Levi hit the deck last week. Parker will take a couple of marks that will make even the Chinese gymnasts go Arrrrrh h hao! Unfortunately Port are likely to kick 11 goals and then we will lose another close one. I have sent sympathies to Blake and suggested he visit the Port hotel to say hi and play with their water bottles.

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
Did they know what they were doing when an injured Weller continued to get selected? How about a terrible Newnes last year (and last couple of weeks).tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Fri 31 May 2019 7:56pm Have the haters actually thought that maybe Alan, his assistants and the selection committee purposely pick what they think the best side is every week?

Yes we need to trust them but the selection committee is not above criticism and they need to be held accountable when mistakes are made. Failure to do this would be negligent on our behalf as paid up members of the club.
Im just concerned about our midfield depth atm..

Just as a matter of interest, how many games has selection cost us this year?
Can’t rhink of a single game of the top of my head.

Re: WTF Young and Long IN!!
And yet, and yet ... we have won five games, and very unlucky it wasn't six. I have not been happy with the lack of development with our players for a while, but considering our injury list, and the key personnel who make up that injury list, we have been remarkably consistent, if not exactly brilliant. I'm waiting for our forward line to really 'click' and I think it will either be Sunday, or in a couple of weeks when we play the Suns in Townsville.Special wrote: ↑Fri 31 May 2019 7:52pmIf we weren’t kicking 9 or 10 goals almost every week then Richo could justify the plan. Back in Young, Long, Parker and Gresh - they're the future and if you think the opposition don't worry about them, then your are very much mistaken.
