Coach leans forward, shakes hand, "Thanks for your contribution Dylan". Turns around 180 degrees, leans forward, shakes hand, "Welcome to the team for this week Jonathon".
Happens everywhere but it must be hard on all of those directly involved.

You are absolutely right. But as a Saints supporter it makes me very sad.ace wrote: ↑Thu 02 May 2019 11:28pmPaddy and Robbo are still on the list in name only.6621104 wrote: ↑Thu 02 May 2019 6:59pm his draft highlight real looks impressive- size, quickness and a great fend off! He may have lost a little zip as he has put on muscle in the few years that have passed, still could be exciting!
This is obviously the year to sort out who will be in our flag winning 2020 side.
With now 2 Jacks sidelined spots open for the mids/smalls as well. Hind in as well?
I suspect the early season form will turn a little ugly as the impact of Paddy, Robbo, Jake, Jack and Hanners all missing for much of this year will be a hard psychological hurdle to overcome.
Their careers are finished already, but Paddy has a contract for next year and Robbo for another year after that.
Once these guys leave the club the money stops.
They are in no hurry to leave but should be exploring future employment opportunities already.
They may leave for a lump sum payment that should not be a problem for our 2019 salary cap unless our list managers have overpaid for mediocrity elsewhere.

i am a bit confused now, even more than usual. Marsh used to be defender but we are now playing him forward? Was he a forward at Sandy?

Agree. Only issue is the players would be paying a lot more tax taking a lump sum over spreading the income over a few tax years.damienc wrote: ↑Fri 03 May 2019 9:53pmYou are absolutely right. I think Marsh is the real deal.
Expecting rather than hoping he will be able to step straight in and make an impact for us. I think he is a long term regular for us.

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
We need to start playing Marsh off the half back line and on a key forward. That is where he is best. Also need to bring Brown back in to play FB.
I wouldn't mind seeing Battle go forward this week too if Brown and Marsh play as key backs.

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
Really bad. He is a defender but richo thought he could wave his magic wand and Marsh would turn into Plugger (Lockett, not 66). Meanwhile Brown is dropped at the other end and Joyce is expected to mind the monster.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
It was his first game for the club ffs. He wasn't too horrible . 6 possessions including 3 marks. Laid a tackle and kicked 1.1.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sun 05 May 2019 10:58pmReally bad. If you want to see real bad, take a peek at Long's performance.

Clearly isn't a forward. Would much prefer Battle forward with Marsh in defence

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
If you have any access to Foxtel have a look at the interview they did tonight with Jono Marsh on On the Mark.
We’re using “raw” a lot around our club this week with Paddy’s contribution, but this is something else.
“Brave”’doesn’t cut it either. This bloke is lucky to still be with us on the planet because he had the strength of character to ask for help, and even greater courage to walk away from the game entirely.
We had a picture of his story before but I had no clue how serious his situation a few years back really was.
To make it back shows not only how much he wants it, but how ready and prepared he is.
He’ll make a very fine addition to our club.
Good on you Jono Marsh. Fortius quo ...

That show deserves an industry award for excellence.
Watch those vultures at 7 and 9 try and poach the hosts from Foxtel and trash the show.
I reckon it’s becoming better than Open Mike

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
Agree.
Liked his game against the Blues. Started using his wheels a bit and disposal was good. Did a couple of nice bumps and cracked in when he had too. Geez he can move for a big guy. We may look back at this years mature age drafting with very found memories. Parker, Wilkie, Kent and Marsh. Jury out on Young and Hind looking very likley. (Get him in FFS!!) So far we've made off like bandits. Give them all another preseason and watch them go!!

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
The mature pick ups we have brought in this year have transformed the side completely. It will set us up well for 2020 when the list is much fitter and injury free. Bookmark it.

Re: Jono Marsh playing this week
I think you're right. Jono is very much the modern KP defender - heigh, weight and speed. I've noticed he's deceptively agile - certainly doesn't just run in straight lines.stkfc1 wrote: ↑Thu 30 May 2019 11:05amAgree.

Wilkie and Parker are both absolute steals. Ordinarily, I'd prefer to build through the draft but I have zero confidence in our club to develop elite young talent so, might as well grab some ready-maders when we get the chance. Especially when they cost so little.
Go you red, black & white warriors
