Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
Matty P performed a couple of classics on Sunday after his goals. Love this bloke. Plays with flair and character. Adds enthusiasm. He reckon he would be a great bloke to have around the club. I wonder if Billy Slater influenced his goal celebrations.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
Thought he carried on like a goose for a bloke who has played 10 games. Was embarrassing. He's lucky to even be in the team before that game. Needs to put his head down and work and possibly spend a little less time considering himself an AFL footballer. Has a young family but likes the after dark night spots as well where he seems to talk it up. Appears to revel in the spotlight but hasn't done anything yet to justify it.
Fumbles a lot, misses crucial goals. Is getting better but obviously wouldn't get a game in many other teams, if any. Would prefer he just get excited when he kicks a good goal and acknowledge his team mates.

Interesting.
The club have also built him up quite a bit as well, particularly with that song. I hope he doesn't get ahead of himself, if he hasn't already because I agree, he has plenty of work to do to take it to the next level.

I think he was doing an indigenous dance to celebrate the round.

Possibly indigenous.
There are too many robots in footy these days. Its good to see an old fashioned rough head out there for a change. Love it. Brings something different. Plus he has done quite well for a first year player. He could get up to 25-30 goals.

Does a lot of good stuff off the ball that you wont see on the tv.
Just remember he has played just ten games. He does double grab under pressure, but about what you would expect from anyone else who has only played 10 games

Geez, you need to educate yourself a little on Australian Culture, your first statement could be classed as Racist really.Moods wrote: ↑Tue 28 May 2019 7:19pm Thought he carried on like a goose for a bloke who has played 10 games. I just want him to get a kick without all the carry on. This isn't the first time I've seen OTT celebrations from him. He's done exactly nothing so far in his career in the context of an AFL career. He's taken a couple of hangers, and applies good pressure...sometimes.

Re: Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
Do we really need that?
A simple clap or gesture to acknowledge the defenders/mids that set up the goal would suffice.
Maybe if it was the match winning goal he could carry on like a pork chop.
But not a routine goal.
We never saw Bradman doing cartwheels whilst running up the pitch like a madman waving his bat and screaming his head off when he made a century/double/triple.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
It’s not unusual for certain types of people to find indigenous people expressing their culture as ‘confronting’...

Re: Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
He does a few things really well. He draws the attention of his direct opponents, attacks the play, applies pressure both ways and then there is the flashy bits which get excitable supporters and commentators talking.
For a 10 game player he is already a huge upgrade on the 100+ game bloke he replaced playing reserves at Richmond. He has come in and made a very positive impact at a bargain price and will definitely get better.
I love him.

Maybe then they should become more Culturally Educated, bordering on Racism some on here, walking a very fine line.
Some should show a little diligence on the subject!

Terrible comparison, Bradman didn't come from a stolen generation, some still living in the dark ages and no matter how much subject education is provided, still refuse to except/acknowledge.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Tue 28 May 2019 11:31pm Do we really need that?

Re: Matty Parker Goal Celebrations
Another thing Matty Parker does, if you watch closely. The last thing he does before he walks in to kick for goal (a set shot), with his left hand he touches the tattoo on the right side of his neck. I wonder what/who that tattoo refers to?
Oh and for the culturally insensitive on this thread, Matty’s celebration after that goal was a movement that was performed pre-game by the indigenous performers. It was highlighted on 360 on Fox where they simultaneously showed (split screen) Matt’s celebration movements and those of the performers - practically identical. Also Jade Gresham in an interview stated, that Matt had said to the boys (I think he was referring to our indigenous players) if there was a chance for a celebration he would do something of significance for the round.
Anyway folks watch for his mannerism of touching the tattoo on his neck.......... it’s a real last second thing before he walks in to kick. Maybe Matty will become the Steve Smith of the Saints, full of repetitive mannerisms........... just s’posing
