Re: Brad Scott
Most players are emotionally attached to most coaches. Even if its just a form of the Stockholm syndrome. These are a couple of point though: significantly more finals than Richo and the board/management knowing him well didn't seem to want to move much to keep him. Rich and our board must be aware of the comparision/contrast - sans finals bit most acutely. Coach contract extension clauses are no doubt being reworked by IR lawyers quite comprehensively to insert performance requirements. As soon as it is arithmetically improbable we will make finals this year the search will formally start. This could be quite late in the season, unless we lose today. I imagine Lethlean will be a player in the next appointment, but won't be the decision maker - and being an honourable man would excuse himself from discussions if Brad Scott is being seriously considered; conflict of interest.

Re: Brad Scott
I wouldn't be unhappy if Scott was to take over from Richo although my preference would be Ratten. Need someone who doesn't have "pleasing" in his vocab...

AgreeHighettMan wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 8:49am It's been interesting. Brad's stocks would have fallen sharply had he been sacked or not had his contract renewed however to exit in the manner he has cast's an interesting new landscape for coach AND club.
Just saw the press conference. Brad spent time talking about the hard times when he was first appointed at Arden St. and there were the usual thank yous, lots of cliches, some corporate speak which is basically deflection from explaining the reasons for the decision
Interesting statements about change in direction and 'letting the recruiters have free air'. I think the board have decided that they'll bottom out and rebuild rather than continue to try and recruit guys any more guys like Polec and Pittard and Hall.
Brad repeated a lot about about putting the club first, but everyone knows in life that you put yourself, your career and your family first. No one, including Brad has explained why he chose to quit now. I reckon if they'd sacked him, it would taint him and this give him 'free air' to throw his hat in the ring for the Saints or Blues
Also interesting that Rhys Shaw preferred as interim coach over Leigh Tudor

I think mightysainters has put Cho last. Cho earns the wooden spoon on his best coaches laddersunsaint wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 2:36pmI would put the two qld coaches well well well above richomightysainters wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 9:14am The best coach is Clarkson and it’s not even close.. what game have you all been watching.

Re: Brad Scott
Kane Cornes said Scott’s “early” exit was a clever piece of ‘look-after-no.1’ staying that coaching out the season would have damaged his stock price significantly. Ref: The Round So Far, AFL website. The way we discuss win/loss ratios you have to agree that had the Kangas finished 16th it might be harder for him. Nevertheless, I wonder what u lot would think if Brad Scott and Richo both being assistant coaches to Ratto next year.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Brad Scott
Richo is done as a coach - any sort of coach in the AFL. Full stop!!
I'd also strongly advise his manager to not bother trying to get him a job in the media

Never made finals after Dal left. So, no idea what good performances you mentioned...shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 25 May 2019 10:19pmaxcellence wrote: ↑Sat 25 May 2019 10:14pm Brad Scott - got 2 great years off Dal Santo which the North got without trading anyone. This helped North make prelims.
Once Dal was done, so were the Roos. Haven’t done much since.
He did whinge a lot even about umpiring, so that’s a step up.
I thought they did pretty well after they dumped all those older guys like Dal. Surprised everyone

You can still stay true to your values can't you Gaz?
They don't need to be mutually exclusive for someone to maintain integrity imo.

Re: Brad Scott
Very strong mail that Richo will be replaced after the game against Port. Hierarchy felt it was not a wise move to sack him after a win and only being out of the 8 on % .

...and tend to agree he's jumped to keep his coaching record intact, North aren't going anywhere in the short term. Pretty sure we don't want him as much as he doesn't want us...reckon the Blues might be a focus though. Must have read his tea leaves seeing today's game coming up?

One of the main whistleblowers is a middle-aged guy who has worked for decades in that industry.
He finally had enough and spoke up, naming, shaming, and rattling cages, knowing full well the toll it would take on his career, marriage, sanity, etc.
He attended most days, if not all, front of gallery.
He wore a suit and famously, a bow-tie given by his employer as a gift/bonus, (that was a symbol for him) and was very active on twitter at the time.
Integrity, for him, was superior to the other values.
Jus sayin'
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

If it's Craig Kelly, he's probably overseas.

Yeah - it is Craig Kelly, I believe (I only heard them say it on the telly), but what's him being o/s got to do with the price of fish? Don't they have phones outside australia?
