Financially, yes, you are right. Still, the consequences of losing this week don’t bear thinking about. We should bust a nut to win both

Just think that the club is looking at a massive opportunity and doesn’t want to blow it.

Re: Team Selection
When it comes to selection does RIcho have veto power? I ask because I'd like to know whether every one of the selectors agrees that Hind shouldn't be picked or whether that is solely down to Richo. I find it incomprehensible that not only hasn't he been given a go but that this week he wasn't even named in the extended squad. Given that he has been named over the past few weeks this move would indicate he's now been pushed further back in the pecking order. And this all the while several players who fail to contribute in substantive ways continue to be chosen.

Re: Team Selection
Newnes started well, but that Giants game saw him revert to type. He seems to just want to run around the ground and use the AFL as a way to keep fit while earning an income. 'Earning' . Hmm. He should be dropped for 4 weeks and then re-assessed.SteveStevens66 wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 2:29am When it comes to selection does RIcho have veto power? He doesn't care.

So you take out 2 players in the one week like Newnes and DMac and replace them with which AFL capable players that dont F*** with team balance and structures.
It's like hanging with a flock of Pelicans sometimes.
The only person on here who thinks we should accept mediocrity. I think we know who the clueless one is here champ.

Mate longer is poor at AFL level. Watch his most recent AFL game. He is a witch's hat at best and not a good one at that.

Re: Team Selection
I tend to agree, but Marshall can't keep rucking alone, or with support from Acres or Bruce. We need to try a second ruckman, and Billy is our only option at this stage.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 9:32amMate longer is poor at AFL level. Watch his most recent AFL game. Re: Team Selection
Patience, King is only a couple of months away. He could become a perfect chop out forward/ruckman for Rowan. Marshall is a beautiful kick that can play forward too... they could potentially become an excellent ‘modern’ ruck duo.Beno88 wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 9:38amI tend to agree, but Marshall can't keep rucking alone, or with support from Acres or Bruce. Re: Team Selection
Personally I wouldn't be playing King any where near a ruck contest in his first 12Mths as a senior player. So, whether he plays this year or next, Marshall needs some help. Hope the mature bloke from Adelaide can playprwilkinson wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 10:13amPatience, King is only a couple of months away. He could become a perfect chop out forward/ruckman for Rowan. Re: Team Selection
Marshall can and should ruck for at least 70% of the game. So the bloke supporting him in the ruck must be able to play another position on the ground. King should be perfect in time.barneyboyz wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 10:58amPersonally I wouldn't be playing King any where near a ruck contest in his first 12Mths as a senior player. It’s going to be very tempting for the coaches isn’t it. I get your point though...needs to build his body up. It’s going to be great to have a 203cm forward giving ruck relief in the front third of the ground whilst Rowan sits back catching his breath a kick behind the play. Little things like that are the difference between decent teams and great teams.

Re: Team Selection
And you’re living in a fairy land if you don’t think a 203cm forward isn’t going to have chop out ruck duties in the forward line during his career. Even Plugger took throw in duties at times and even started in the ruck a few times during his career.
I’d be keeping King away from centre bounces though.

Re: Team Selection
No but you could be, best way to shorten his career, ruck duties in the forward line is a lot different to playing a 2nd string ruck role, thanks for justifying my statement.prwilkinson wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 12:08pmAnd you’re living in a fairy land if you don’t think a 203cm forward isn’t going to have chop out ruck duties in the forward line during his career.

Re: Team Selection
Is that enough?
He may be a good mark but he doesn't take a lot. He's not an intercept machine or anything like that.
I agree he has some excellent attributes but his skills and composure have really been hurting the team lately.

That's Correct, he has to be judged on form, not his use of crayons.degruch wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 12:24pmIt's a toughy...because...has he actually earned a spot?The_President wrote: ↑Fri 24 May 2019 12:15am Long plays this week. Designed the jumper with his sister.
He was ok last week, so it will be tight.
Don't be surprised if Marshall is a late out, he has to get through Captains Run and tick a few boxes.
