Saints looking at SA ruckman

Post: # 1792903Post tedtheodorelogan2018 »

Michael Knoll. 25 from SA.

We might place McCartin on long term injury list so we get a pick in the mid season draft.

Obviously the club don't think much of Billy Longer or Lewis Pierce for that matter. Does anybody know what's happening with Pierce?

Much of a muchness really. He’s barely played in 5 years... clearly not rated, won’t be on the list next season

How about a skillful quick midfielder that can deliver the ball, we’ve only been chasing one for the last 5 yrs.

That’s for Gallagher to work out, he’s the list manager.
We’ve got Longer who is “apparently” doing everything right in the VFL so lets play him.

If there was one there sure but is there? I'd place paddy on long time injury list as he is too risky to play regardless if he is fit. Not sure if that helps anything but having him taking a spot for no benefit seems like a waste

How funny would it be if we found the midfield equivalent of Wilkie from a state league team? Not only would it be bloody amazing for out team not to have to rely on Ross' high bombs to outnumbered forwards - it'd also be classic Saints!

Yeah I read that. Sounds like he’s cooked also - regardless he will be delisted end of season along with many others.

If that is true...has our club learned nothing on the wisdom recruiting very young rucks?

Get someone with a few years under his belt.

I am hot on this bloke

But he will probably go to the Doggies like Bontempelli and Smith as I wanted them too

The club aren't alone in not thinking much of Mr Longer.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

It's to cover for Pierce not Longer, no relevance what your thoughts are on any player really.

Does anyone subscribe to the Chris Scott and Geelong thinking that the mid season draft may be used for what it wasn't intended - namely stockpiling picks that would normally go early in the national draft near the end of the year?

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Of course it will, was never going to be anything else clubs would be negligent to do anything but.

To be honest I don't expect anything from the draft. These players were passed over in last year's draft so there won't be a lot of talent in there. Don't get me wrong there might be a diamond in there but don't get your hopes up.
As long as we don't draft a HBF I'll be happy

Don't think you'll find one of those in this draft! 😂
