Re: AFL Lets its Favourite Lovechild Off the Hook, Again!
He took a running jump to climb it.
That caused the post to wobble.
Under the rules that is a free kick.
Umpires should be umpiring to the rules not the "vibe".
"Didn't fully complete it but hey that was a super effort - I'll pay the mark"
"I don't think he intended that nudge in the back so I'll let it go"
"Great intercept and carry, probably ran a step too far without bouncing but I'll let it go"
"There's a guy climbing the goalpost, oh he's wearing a Sydney jumper - I'll just issue a warning"
Rules are rules.
Umpires job is to enforce them.
If prevailing wisdom is that the outcome was wrong then the AFL should change/modify the rule.
But don't allow umpires to arbitrarily decide not to enforce a rule based on their personal feelings!
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

You mean when the umpire paid what can only be described as a soft very technical free against us gifting them a goal? Barely infringed and the commentators basically scoffed that it was paid.

All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Send that to the umpires please or ask them if they know the rules apply them to both teams each game.The_Dud wrote: ↑Tue 14 May 2019 3:05pmLearn the rules.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 14 May 2019 10:41amYou mean when the umpire paid what can only be described as a soft very technical free against us gifting them a goal? ok Abblett is not a little maggot and his record sort of indicates that
and I was pretty ok with both incidents being let off - both free kicks but both were minimum force
I was surprised with Durdin hit on Rohan but it only attracted a 1 week penalty
it was the concussion that was pretty telling in the result
but Im confused by the thread title - is sydney the afl love child or essendon

Dude, he was crying his eyes out over having to play with the lowly GCS quite frequently. His constant complaining is why he went back to his beloved Sheepshafters!!

True but at least he was likeable up here.
Like Judd a couple of years back, the sooner he’s retired the better

If he get's off this time I reckon his opponents should spend the whole day hitting him in the head behind play. And if reported simple claim precedent.
