Just wanted it more. Membrey’s last mark exemplified it. Just slipped between Gawn and Preuss and kept his eyes on the ball.

I would have liked to have reached 100 points and at the time we just seemed like we were going through the motions.
But we did finish off well in the end and as I said later I retract the statement and have no complaints.

Pet gripe...you can put your house on us dropping off as soon as the Cheer Squad starts singing the song.
As soon as they belt it out, the players always ease off...or maybe the opposition is shamed into action. I reckon it's been like that for about 30 years.
=========================
In any event...what a win. The best since the Richmond win in 2016. Not because we played beautiful footy....but because we played sustainable football.
Trying to be slick and perfect is too hard when you're under a tsunami of pressure.
So, given the players we have, isn't it more sensible to create a team who lives and dies by kamikaze pressure? That penny finally seems to have dropped in the coaching box.
That's our style of play. That's our brand. That's our everything.
What was most satisfying was seeing Melbourne's players tap out and lose faith late in Q3 when they realised we wouldn't stop turning the screw. I can't recall us doing that to a team in a very long time. Boy, that was satisfying.
I repeat: this is how I want to see the team play. Defending/pressuring/stalking like a swarm of angry bees for 120 minutes. The rest will look after itself.

Wowweeeee. Im very happy. That 3rd q was complete domination. Thats 09,.10 stuff. Saints footy is back!!
Seriously how good is Wilkie going to be? He would be in AA consideration at the moment.
Billings is a monty for AA the way he's going .
Kent. Well done. Great game. Repaid the faith.
Marshall. Was huge today. I know he was beaten in tap.outxbut so.would have any other ruck in the comp today who was playing one out. Just kept presenting and was a solid. Stuck to the task.
Steele. Wow. He's a jet. Seriously how does this guy not get the plaudits. He's one of the best young mids in the comp right now.
Our backline. Superior. Just getting the job done. Geary and Patton ( special mention, great game). Well done. Webster and Savage. Damaging.
Brown just continuing the good form.
Long and Parker are the hardest mofos running around in the AFL at the moment.
Bruce and Members. Huge!!
Eveyone else. Well done. Great game and everyone plaid their role.
So proud of the boys!!
Go Saints!!

Should bottle that third quarter. Scores aside, it was bloody outstanding. Don't reckon the best training drills could match it.
