Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season

It says in The Age today that 'he hopes to return in the back half of this year's AFL season' and that he 'eyes (his) return late in the season'.

Could be anytime from Round 12 through Round 23 going by that.

Sounds about right. I doubt he will play any footy before the bye and that is at any level. Don't forget he will come back in via VFL as there is no fitness like match fitness so that's another few weeks off as well so I'm backing a July start

Assistant coaches don’t fall under the players salary cap and don’t usually get (reported) $800k over 4-5 year deals.

Would live to see Dan as an assistant after he negotiates a deal & retires

Many accused Billings of been a tad soft in the past, a debatable argument, yet no one could reasonably accuse him of that this year. He's gone up a couple of levels in hardness. I've got a sneaking suspicion that is due to the influence of Hannabery.

Gresham is good because of himself. He has always believed in himself since day 1.
Now he is nearly 22, fit and strong after 4 pre-seasons and has played 60+ games.
Natural improvement from a young star.

Giving Hannebery credit for Gresham is a stretch, even for the most ardent Hannebery fans.
