How long have you been a member for?
Paid proper attention to this yesterday when my membership finally arrived...
23 years for me!!! Yikes, where does the time go. Have been a social club member for more then 2/3 of my life.
Got me thinking, I doubt I'm anywhere near the top bracket of longest serving members so where are other people at?
Also, what is your membership number (not the serial one). On the card I have a membership number that less than 50... is that a length of service rank?
Cheers

Re: How long have you been a member for?
My first membership was in 1958 the year Neil Roberts won the Brownlow which would make me 61 years this year.
However I missed a couple of years when I lived overseas so my present continuous membership is 47 years.
I contacted the club to try and confirm but back in the 50’s and 60’s no membership record was kept and it was a card you bought at the ground which was clipped each match.
The said that if I could provide one of the old cards they would include that date but I was unable to find them.

your membership number may change if you upgrade or possibly even down grade your membership.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 18 Apr 2019 8:20am Paid proper attention to this yesterday when my membership finally arrived...

and they will/ may give the lowest available at that time.
When I upgraded to social club many years ago mine went to a number mid 100's.
so your 50 means who ever was holding that membership had either- passed away, or stopped being a member

Re: How long have you been a member for?
I joined up at 17. I had to work weekends as a kid and so only joined then.
42 years since and virtually all as Social Club Member.
I am pretty sure it has changed a number of times since, and some of those times perhaps for that reason.
But I "lost" my original number when nothing changed for me.

I am not sure about that. I had the same 4 digit Membership number for many, many years and then when barcoding came I suddenly gained a long one. I was not happy Jan.saintbrat wrote: ↑Thu 18 Apr 2019 10:19am

Re: How long have you been a member for?
Got my first junior membership in 1964 but Dad would never fill out the registration cards that came with membership. Stopped being a member during the 80s when I moved away and got heavily involved in country football. Started watching the Saints again around 1996 when we moved a bit closer to Melbourne and I dropped out of the country footy scene. I took up membership again in 2003 and started going to all our home games. A protest vote from my wife over the sacking of GT meant we didn't renew in 2007 but have had the same reserved seat memberships for the past 12 seasons.
Looking forward to getting more involved as I get closer to retirement.

Re: How long have you been a member for?
Officially now 17 years, but had a couple of "season tickets" many years prior, moved away from Melbourne and didn't renew them so continuous membership only goes back to 2002.

Re: How long have you been a member for?
I arrived in Melbourne, (from Auckland New Zealand) in March 1990. I saw the passion and excitement generated by Australian Rules Football, but (naturally) had not the first clue about how it was played etc. I became close friends with a guy named Les Griffith who was a committed Saints man. Les was a good bloke, a true and loyal friend, who I loved very much. He tried with patience and good humour to teach me the finer points of the game. When he died I was very upset. At his funeral, I saw Stewie Loewe, Burkie, and many other Saints players...... I thought to myself.."If these guys attend a funeral for one of their fans, then THIS is the club for me!" I was from that day in 1991, Saints through-and-through, even if I wasn't going to games! In 2000 my daughter Eve and I began to attend matches..... at the final round (22) we were thumped by North Melbourne.... Tim Watson slunk off down the race, and left Nathan Burke to apologise to our supporters at the Lockett end for the team's awful season. We both decided there and then to "put our money where our mouths were" and to sign up as members. After all, it's at times like that when the club needs support MORE THAN EVER! This is my 19th year straight as a paid up member. I am now 74. It's highly unlikely that I will see the Saints win a Flag in my lifetime. I don't like that thought, but it does NOTHING to deter me from staying true. Over the journey, I've had my heart broken (2009 & 2010) have seen us get some god almighty pastings..... I've also had occasions like winning PF's Beating the Crows on their own midden in the QF in 2005! I've been blessed with meeting wonderful people, some of whom have become my dear friends..... The St Kilda footy club are like family! I would have an easier job to change the colour of my eyes than to give up on my Saints! Dropping the Saints, would be letting my dear Saints pal Les down. Go Saints! (to hell with the rest!)
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Re: How long have you been a member for?
This is my 18th consecutive year.
My first membership was as a junior in 1966 when I lived in Mordialloc.
I still have the 1966 membership card which has numbers around the edge for each of the matches and was clipped for each game attended when you entered the ground.
After 1966 I moved to live in the country and remained a loyal fan until moving back to Melbourne as an adult where I renewed the membership.

Re: How long have you been a member for?
First bought a membership in the early '80s but was overseas for some of them
Continuous for the last 32.
I'm one of luckiest Saints fans -- 2 of the first 4 games ever I saw were grand finals.

Re: How long have you been a member for?
Got my first Saints membership in 1987, but I must confess, haven't bought a membership every year since then. I actually didn't renew my membership in 2008, after feeling disillusioned with the direction the team was going in 2007. I got back on the wagon in 2009, however. At the moment, it has been 10 years straight of renewing my membership.

Re: How long have you been a member for?
First joined as a junior member in 1967. I had been to some games in the preceding years, including at the Junction, but made the membership commitment on the back of the flag ( because it would be the first of many - right ? ).
Have not been continuous. Work commitments took me away in early 80s and again in 91 ( though flew home for the final - wasn't going to miss that one ).
Was in a Coterie for a dozen years, before my kids drifted away from the game and I reverted to reserved seat membership and then standard level 3 membership.
Great to read about so many longstanding fans on this site.
