What a great first 4 games overall.
The bloke will never be an A grader nor is he blessed with lightning rod speed akin to an African panther but geez he's a good footy player. Just solid.
Newnes is currently averaging nearly 25 touches a game and is in the top 50 of the AFL. What a come back year and he has answered his critics.

Don’t know about him not ever being able to be an A-Grader...
Always struck me as one of those guys that had the undefinable quality of just knowing what to do.
His issue has always been his inability to take that next step which he is on the way to doing so far

Yeah Ted was very good today but at times just bombing long to nothing hurt us a bit & he wasn't Robinson Crusoe there either but a solid game all the same

4th solid game and nailed the goal when it counted. Has lifted about 50% on last year. Very good effort.

I must admit, I was a massive critic of him last year. But he's been a real contributor this year and deserves to be in out best 22.

Newnes missed almost the entire pre-season last year and this is just too difficult to overcome in modern football. Take a look at Melbourne this year, more than half their senior team had surgery in the off season and delayed pre-seasons, they are 1-4 and we know they are way better than that.
