Re: Changes v Hawks
Are McCartin and Hannebury training? Just asking because their names aren't coming up as possibles, and as far as I understood their names haven't been ruled out indefinitely.

Don't expect to see either before mid season bye, if at all this season, Paddy maybe not ever as he is still suffering concussion systems!!!!!
I think King will get back playing before Paddy IMO!!!!!

IN……...Stuv
OUT...….Sinclair...... either he had a job or was not working hard enough, but no kicks from playing generally between the arc's is no good.
IN.... Long
OUT......Kent...……...Fumbled a lot ,no marks, no tackles. Find form elsewhere.
IN..... Pierce
OUT......McKenzie...….like his intent and he's almost there,( but will he ever get to the level ? ) think he will be squeezed out as others return....need Marshall to go forward when possible.
I'd be putting a few on notice too...….Seb, Dunstan and Hunter would want to have more impact this week.....IMO .

Re: Changes v Hawks
I like it, but I think substitute Pierce with Longer. Billy got 47 hitouts in the magoos on the weekend. We need a second ruckman, and we need to reward exposed form.35...LEGEND wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 11:06am IN……...Stuv

Re: Changes v Hawks
Could have won last week if there was more desperation from our onballers/ midfield. If Steven available, then in for Sinclair or Ross (those two just need to go that little bit harder at the loose ball). Maybe Hind, but not sure who else would go out. Parker applying top pressure, but needs to start taking a few more grabs and getting on the scoreboard- same for Kent

Stoney, I’m still trying to work out if you are Billy’s brother, his manager, or even Billy himself
But I agree Billy should be our first choice as SECOND ruck behind RoMa at the minute. He’d want to start being a little less one dimensional though. Where do you hide him when he’s not trying to do tap outs?

If Billy is fit and ready (hasn't been properly fit since 2017), imo he'll come in as First ruck. RoMa may develop into a first ruck when he learns to regularly direct hitouts to the advantage of OUR players.bigcarl wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 2:07pm Stoney, I’m still trying to work out if you are Billy’s brother, his manager, or even Billy himself

I think not as that would involve dropping or “managing” Marshall. I don’t think the membership will put up with that, and nor should they.
Marshall should be the first picked of our three rucks and IMO that makes him No.1

Why would it mean dropping or managing Marshall? Leave him in as ruck/forward.bigcarl wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 2:52pmtakeaway wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 2:32pmIf Billy is fit and ready (hasn't been properly fit since 2017), imo he'll come in as First ruck. Re: Changes v Hawks
Those types have a habit of slipping in and out of the team under Richo when he decides we need more run to compensate for his preferred preponderance of one-paced midfielders around the ball.
A solution I guess would be to plonk Marshall at chf. I could cop that, I guess and I think he’s good enough

Is this what your saying?????
If so, that is exactly what will happen, he has an underdeveloped body in terms of an AFL ruckman!!!!!
I'm telling you from experience, he will need either help, to be managed or rested!!!!!
This will happen sooner rather than later, if it doesn't, he will get injured and be forced to spend time off the field, simple really!!!!!
For what it's worth, I still believe Marshall is more of a forward than ruckman at this point of his career, he will make it as ruckman, but it will take time and involve him being correctly 'managed'!!!!!
No offence intended, but it's irrelevant what the members think when it comes to managing players!!!!! ie: Jack Steven

Re: Changes v Hawks
Marshall can't play ruck every game this year. Its ridiculous to suggest he could or should. He is a kid and will need help here and there and should be managed/rested for a couple of games. Next year is a different story though.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I agree he can’t ruck every match, but I’d hope they play a 2nd ruck (or 1st ruck) and play him forward before he gets to the stage he requires ‘ managing’.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 3:49pm Marshall can't play ruck every game this year. Would be interesting to know why the selectors preferred Pierce round one over Marshall.

Re: Changes v Hawks
I’m not saying that at all stoney, so don’t put words in my mouth. I don’t like it.
What I am saying is that Richo has in the past shown great reluctance to play two rucks. If he brings Longer in as first ruck, it will probably ultimately mean no spot for our most promising big man in many years.
He’ll go the way of McEvoy, Stanley, Hickey. And a lesser footballer, more of a tapout specialist really, will take his spot. Unless they decide to play him as a key forward. Like I said, I could cop that.
He’s a better footballer than Billy and should be picked before him.
And btw, what the members think is vital to the club and is closely correlated to the win-loss ratio. They’ll get away with it so long as we’re winning, but if the arse falls out of our season, look out.

Yep Steven comes in. In my team Acres comes out.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Tue 09 Apr 2019 2:06pmI like the ins here but surely Steven comes in as well assuming he is fit.Spinner wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2019 6:04pm IN: Longer, Long
OUT: Sinclair, Kent
Marshall providing the second forward tall option and relieving in the ruck. Long providing cleanness and tackling pressure in the forward line.
Also - Sinclair played 90% of the game for zero kicks. Is there a role he is performing that I am not aware of? How is 9 handballs playing on a wing acceptable?
Maybe Steven, Long & Longer for Sinclair, Kent & Acres?
Will Parker get a week in the ressies for discipline, similar to Long from round 1?
Longer for Acres - Allows Marshall forward and 2nd ruck
Sinclair for Steven - no brainer, best mid for under-performing mid
Kent for Long - Long brings a lot more urgency and defensive pressure than Kent who failed to lay a single tackle V Freo. Kent has a big body but doesnt use it or impose himself physically at contests.
Long showed enough when fit last year to be a consistent best 22 player.

Re: Changes v Hawks
I doubt there will be more than 2 changes as there usually never is.
Parker should stay in but he is on notice. Same with Sinclair. 8 handballs just isn't good enough..
Steven comes in which will help us ( Gawd, footy has changed).
Longer needs to come in asap.
Long isn't an automatic inclusion.
Hind needs to come in at some stage.
I think we’re doing ok but Sunday was a missed opportunity because I think Freo are s*** but might motivate us for Sunday if we’re not rooted from the Perth trip.
Go Saints.

At 23 Marshall is not really a kid, but yes young for a ruckman and more so one that actually has not rucked much in recent years. So to play as the sole ruck every week is a big ask.
With the Hawks playing Ben and Ceglar the Hawks game is one where I think Longer should come in.
Longer to play minimal game time, but when he does Marshall to rest forward.

And still, it goes unanswered. It's a legitimate question. No one disputes the tap work... It's the lack of any other form of presence on the footy field.bigcarl wrote: ↑Wed 10 Apr 2019 2:07pm Stoney, I’m still trying to work out if you are Billy’s brother, his manager, or even Billy himself

I just think Marshall - assuming he’s fit, obviously - MUST stay in the side one way or another.
And we all know Richo’s track record when it comes to playing two ruckmen. He doesn’t tend to like it.
Maybe you do plonk Marshall at chf and ask him to relieve in the ruck.
