Re: Head clash
Crowd noise.
If it actually warranted a free then you would think it should be reportable.
(Though actually it was Fyfe who actually ran in to him).

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: Head clash
When you look at the replay, Fyfe hits a stationary Battle in the head, Battle goes backwards and half hugs, half tackles Fyfe down with him, arms up around the neck.

Umpires were very good yesterday, put the wistle away and let the boys play.

Re: Head clash
It was a blatant mistake which of course went against us and they goaled as a result. No free was warranted but again the umpire chose to pay it against us.

Re: Head clash
They paid the free kick for holding the man, right??
If so, then perfectly justified, Battle wrapped him up and took him to ground, expecting him to take possession of the ball. The fact that Fyfe was in a coma at the time is irrelevant.

Re: Head clash
You have quoted the wrong example there. It doesn’t support your hypothesis at all. A better example is when Geary took a chest mark and the umpire “let the boys play”. It led to their first goal.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2019 8:34am+1SemperFidelis wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2019 8:15am When you look at the replay, Fyfe hits a stationary Battle in the head, Battle goes backwards and half hugs, half tackles Fyfe down with him, arms up around the neck.

Re: Head clash
Well it was Fyfe...and it was Freo in Fremantle....
Though I thought that players who had their back to the ball and infringed the player facing the ball were meant to be the ones deemed to be in the wrong.
So I sure the ump just thought it was "the vibe" at the time.

Re: Head clash
Agree TD but why only yesterday - you defend them when they're horrible.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2019 8:34am+1SemperFidelis wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2019 8:15am When you look at the replay, Fyfe hits a stationary Battle in the head, Battle goes backwards and half hugs, half tackles Fyfe down with him, arms up around the neck.

I find the game hard to watch most times because the umps have more influence than players.
