Managed apparently
He's injured, obviously. Emotionally or physically. If he were fit he'd be playing.
Yes, but is it physical (one week rest) or mental (!!!!!!!)?
I don’t know Enrico, but I object to the term “managed”. It’s such a cop out.

He’s either not fit in some way or dropped.

I'd like to see Long come in for Steven, hopefully he's only out for a week and it gives Long a great chance to get back in the side and stay in.
There is no way Mackenzie should be dropped! I love how he wins one-on-one contests.
I'd still like to find room for 2 rucks so for mine, Kent goes out, Pierce comes in and he and marshall share Ruck duties. Think it will benefit both their games...
Clarke just has to bide his time till we lose or injury opens up a slot.
Actually just saw that Peirce isn't in the squad, so for mine, Steven out Long in...Clarke to bide his time

Everyone seems to be missing the real story of the week.
This may be they first opportunity to see Clark and Kent play together. Not to mention Steele being there as well.
It would be beautiful to see.

I reckon this is an excellent call. Clark is likely to get a game where he otherwise wouldn't have. Steven gets a rest as he didn't have the ideal finish to his pre-season. Makes perfect sense and for those who aren't happy with him being managed, then I'd like to see how 'match-fit' you'd be after missing the tail end of a preseason, no practice games, and then immediately going into 2 AFL games. I reckon most would be screaming for a break! Very solid team and if we play like we did last week then Dockers are no chance.

We need to recruit a player with surname Manov then we can have Clark Kent Manov Steele.

Oleg Markov is close enough.

Good side.

Jack Steven wasn't a surprise. Just needs a week off after being underdone. Fitness staff are all over it obviously.

Dropped. Jack has been added to the extended Sandy bench.

He won't play for Sandy after two six day breaks!

What's that forum Big Footballer or whatever it's called come up with regarding Jack?

Steven and Hanners celebrated too hard after Sat night and were caught mixing with Nomad bikes and multiple hookers on Grey St in St Kilda. Surely.

He might play reduced minutes. Who would know at this stage.

He's not named on the extended bench. Zebs will get a fine if they pull a 'Fine Cotton'

To me, it was miraculous he played the first 2.

I’d prefer he has a rest and comes back ready to go for the Hawks.

Torching the match committee seems pointless. Let’s get a fully fit Hunter In for a run.
Okay, that's a very good point you've made there. The Dude abides!

Hmm, clearly he is not fit enough to pay as he, as the club has stated, due to an interrupted pre-season. But the club can't state, "not fit enough' as the reason, so effectively his fitness and body is being 'managed' which under the circumstances is entirely appropriate.

That small forward role is now really competitive after having really nothing of quality a couple of years ago.

Kent is a player I like. He kicks goals especially when they seem to matter. He is fast and aggressive and hard. He won’t be prolific but that role is more about impact than racking up numbers.
Robbie Young is performing very strongly at the Zebras he is fast agile and hunts defenders down when they have the ball and he is scoring goals at the Zebras.
Ben Long just got a 3 year contract so that says it all he is in the coaches plans we know his quality can you fathom he being out long term?
Lonie- he is fighting for his career and has stepped up big time at one stage he looked gone.
4 players don’t go into 2 it’s really competitive in that area.
Same for the talls if Mc Cartin can stay healthy and Max King comes in at some stage.

"Not fit in some way" is too long for the selection sheets so they just say "Managed".

Not sure it's a pressing issue TBH.

Glad we cleared that up. We haven’t managed to get him fit enough to play. That’s a pity as we could do with a frequent b&f winner today.

Great post.

Interesting that we pretty much assume Parker is a best 22 lock now, if he keeps his consistency and effort it’s hard to argue.

It’s 4 into 2 because one of Gresh & Billings are still forward for portions. Could fit 3 in if form demands their selection with Gresh & Billings continuing higher up the ground and perhaps even Billings of half back from time to time.

Order currently appears to me Lonie, Kent, Long then Young. Lonie, who would have thought? Longs lack of discipline round 1 seemed to push him out.

Assuming no injuries will be interesting to watch.
Long the best long term player IMO, with both Lonie & Young having a lot more upside than the mature Kent.

Can Kent go from fringe player to genuine consistent AFL player? He has the tools, particularly the left foot.

My guess is Lonie, Long & Kent can all play together this season. I think the order next year would be Long, Lonie, Young, Kent if development continues.

Great to see competition for spots. 👍

The Gresh is a Centre Man now who drifts forward.

He’s developing into another Gary Ablett Junior. Has the potential to be almost as good!

Imagine if he played and did a hammy.

We’d be lambasting the club for playing him under prepared 😄
