Changes against the Dockers

Post: # 1781973Post freely »

Just noticed there's no such thread! Do people think no changes?

Only changes I can see might be Long and Longer! Long - because I think it was a discipline issue, so just depends if it's a one-game issue or worse, and Longer if Marshall's injured. Is he though?

Maybe Clark in but not sure who goes out. Longer would need a,few games in the twos before he's ready.

Pierce must be a chance, we could be exposed for height in the back half & Marshall / Bruce mauled in the ruck.

They may select Clark if they want more spread on a bigger ground with a faster surface.

If both come in, those that miss would be unlucky but the fact is our list is very even and my suspicion is our best 22 for this round will look completely different by the last six rounds. A work in progress but good on the current 22 making these decisions hard.

Up for selection based on form: Clark, Long, Pierce, Young
Up for omission based on form: Acres, McKenzie, Savage, Dunstan

No genuine like-for-like changes there except maybe Clark for Dunstan.

I can't see any more than 1 change all up. It's a Sunday game so it will be interesting to see who is selected in the squad.

Nah, can't see Dunstan getting dropped but McKenzie would be on thin ice.

Assuming Marshall is OK, my guess is no change unless someone is injured.

For consideration:
Possible Ins: Clark, Long, Pierce, Austin, Young

Possible Outs: Marshall (inj), Kent, Mc Kenzie, Savage

I very much doubt Dunstan, Kent or McKenzie would be in the firing line.

Perhaps Savage for Long or Clark?
Perhaps Kent for Pierce if they wanted the extra tall?

I also think Acres will be better for the run and showed enough to retain his spot.

Throw in Brown. He needs a stint in the 2s to regain his confidence in clunking marks and getting to contests. Plus he needs to work on his chasing and tackling skills. He tends to lope and point. It's like he's running in buckets of treacle.

Don’t mind going in with two rucks, just to protect an asset such as Marshall and to ensure that our best key forward doesn’t have to ruck. So Pierce or Longer in ... as SECOND ruck, not first.

Would love to see Clark in, but I don’t expect too many changes to a winning side

i can't believe people here think Savage should be dropped. He would certainly have been in our best last week.

I’d love to see Clark in but structurally dmac out doesn’t work very well. You’re essentially swapping a defender for a wing / mid

It’s a tricky one as dmac was a low performer in comparison to the rest of the team

I am wondering if there is a good match up for Brown

Not dropping him on form as he is our key back, but McCarthy is a runner and Hogan would also run off him

Wasn't Dunstan one of our best last year against the Dockers? If that means anything?

Acres..another go.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Last week Freo played McCarthy, Hogan, Taberner, Lobb & Darcy. Brown to Lobb or Taberner.

I agree the best game I've seen him play in years.

I think the posters that have suggested Savage out should watch a replay and post the extent of their embarrasment, or hang up their amateur selection boots for good.

I'm going early, this could be Savage's best year based on a small sample size.

Hogan looked like a fish out of water against the Suns.

I said last week, either here or on FascistBook (facebook)
that the old Saints would run a team into form, so I was concerned about the Injectors game,
and wondered what this 2019 version of our club would do.
Well, they proved different and want to create their own history.

Therefore, I'm hoping our Wilkie-inspired backline can keep Hogan down
and keep Cam McArthy in check as well.

One week at a time, folks, one week at a time.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤🤍🖤 and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

No unforced changes for me, and especially no to dropping Dunstan, Acres or Savage

Savage was good last week, the new formation suits he's style of game!!!!!

Doesn't surprise me some want him dropped, some still see him as a whipping boy (old habits die hard for some), others simply are showing a lack of footy nous, not unusual for some on here!!!!! ;)

Stick with the Sav at the moment, personally I wouldn't be making too many changes if any for this week!!!!!
