Just dug out a wooden spoon.
Will put it in the mail to Dylan Shiel.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Shiel is undeniably good at some things.
Hitting the goals is clearly not one of them. He missed badly today again when it mattered.
Some dudes, in fact most, never get better at that.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Poor bugger first two games at his new club and already lost to his old mob plus the team he turned down the big dollars from early days but it must be hurting about now...

There was something dodgy about the Chris Judd deal at Carlton, suspect it may be something along those lines

Re: Dylan Shiel
Wasn’t Shiel an ambassador for the Grand Prix? Some well connected Essendon fan probably organised that

Not worth 2 first round draft picks IMO.
Glad we didn't have to pay that.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Everyone should not forget that if Simon Lethlean had his way Dylan Shiel would be a St.kilda player on 1.3 million dollars a year and pick 4 would have been given to Essendon.
I wanted the club to draft Max King and am very glad they did... however we have Dylan Shiel to thank for this.
Thankfully Shiel rejected the huge offer and St.kilda were then able to draft Max King.

ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

Re: Dylan Shiel
That miss on goal yesterday was a shocker (THANK GOODNESS!) I thought at the time that it showed a wee bit of arrogance on his part as he was (it seemed to my aging eyes) almost preparing for the high fives from grateful teammates. To be honest, I would have taken him, but will defer to those who feel otherwise.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Don't need him if Gresh keeps developing. That kid has AA written all over him. He and Billings and the man of Steele are making a huge difference in the midfield.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Methendon are playing him wrong.
Too much inside and he is a softy outsider that really looks to be on the same level as Billings. That is not a shot at Billings either.
But they have too many players of that type.

Re: Dylan Shiel
the bombres usually play an umpire in the inside mid role. They will probably demand a Royal Commission into the umpiring, and demand that the AFL reverse the result.
*Allegedly.

Re: Dylan Shiel
An Essendon admin told me that Shiel had better pay offers from clubs but that Ess were able to offer better off-field opportunities. DS was introduced to Andrew Welsh who has made a fortune from opportunities made available to him from interacting with the Essendonian (if I remember correctly) coterie group. Ess can make those introductions, but was careful to mention that it was introductions only.
The guy also said he got on well with Shiel, who mentioned him when he signed, so that probably helped as well.
I'm not sure what story St Kilda could tell potential high profile recruits with regard to possible income streams outside of football. There's a reason that players keep going to the same clubs.

Re: Dylan Shiel
all clubs do similar
I think there is a fair chance that Frawley had a little bit to do with Roo NDS and Montagna all working for Fox
footy connections are what they are - so it was interesting to read S43
Warning tho another poster got right royally Saintsationally reamed for writing similar about reasons Shiel didnt sign with the saints

Re: Dylan Shiel
Correct. He’s actually the same type of player as Zach Merret. He’s precisely the type of player they don’t need. They actually need a Dunstan or better still, Jobe v.2012.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Yep we did but he made it clear years ago, in a quick interview after a game we lost to GWS (just after they were most teams bunnies - in Scott Watters days), that he didn't like the potential at the Saints. I clearly remember his comment neared a derogatory tone. I said in the lead up to him leaving GWS he wouldn't be coming over to us.
Nothing sus about his preferences. Just his preference to be in a club with a big following.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Re: Dylan Shiel
He's probably a really ambitious sort of guy who dreams of big accolades, big crowds and starring on the big stage
You don't hear AFL players saying that one of their goals in their career is to win the Silk-Miller medal
The Anzac Day medal on the other hand...
