Yeo.
Cripps.
Higgins.
Bont.
This dude is very, very good.
He's basically a hard nosed, savage tagger that gets more ball than his high profile opponent.
Legit.
He could be our next captain at this rate.

Goal Assists Per Game | 0.4 | 0.3 | 0.6 |
Contested Possessions Per Game | 10.1 | 17.6 | 10.4 |

Turnovers Per Game | 3.4 | 4.5 | 4.8 |
Intercepts Per Game | 3.1 | 2.6 | 2.4 |
Now the other two, are the best in the business. Top shelf.
But Steele isn't that far off. And given his first half of last year was only Ok, and that he's played over a full season less than Cripps, and Bont has played twice as many games as him - to finish with the above numbers suggests that his trajectory is fair dinkum.

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
It took until after the bye for the coaching group to play him in the midfield. Once he moved into the engine room he averaged 26 disposals from the final 8 games.
I’m surprised he’s not part of the leadership group. Maybe he doesn’t want it.

Also worth noting from those last 8 games he averaged:
- 26 disposals
- 13 contested possessions
- 5 clearances
- 6 tackles
Close to elite across the board.

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
If he can become a 30 disposal with 15 being contested per game player then he’s the inside bull we are crying out for. Would likely elevate the team close to finals off the back of that output as well. A lot of the clubs fortunes are depending on Jack.jaxons wrote: ↑Mon 11 Mar 2019 8:23pmFinally people seeing this.Myron Gaines wrote: ↑Mon 11 Mar 2019 8:20pm Also worth noting from those last 8 games he averaged:

He's another player that has really flourished under Alan's coaching. I'm led to believe Alan and Jack have a very good bond and working relationship.

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
Wasn't there an interview or maybe it was his B&F speech where he said he was begging to be played in the middle and that they finally listened to him and gave him a shot and he never looked back. From memory he wasn't picked for round 1 last year?

F@rk off with your positivity - where do you think you are? We are 2 weeks out from the start of the season - stop making sense and trying to engender some positive support!!!!

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
The new rules are going to really work in both our mid Jacks (Steele and Steve) down to the ground. Steele has just played over 50 games. This is when players start hitting their stride and his numbers are already very good. We may well have ended up with best player in that draft after all.

A grade potential Jack Steele. Very good trade and pickup for a 2nd rounder.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
I think Steele is symptomatic of Rich's Coaching, which has been an over-emphasis on the defensive or negative aspects of the game. Steele's game suffered under it, and since becoming a regular mid he is blooming more and more.
There has always been a place for strong defence, and negative football, but NOW is not the time to overboard on it. There was a window in the Lyon era when it almost won us a flag or two. But the game has moved on with tactics developed to counter it and you need to be more offensive now.
The 6/6/6 rule change has only made this even more so.
A dominant midfield is now more valuable as centre break clearances will present more scoring opportunities.
Our midfield lacks true stars, and it is vital, that some of our players can bloom into this role, and Steele is currently presenting as the most likely to be our next new star mid.
I think that Billings is continuing to build and bloom, but Billings is on outside player. Steele is that inside clearance beast we need.
I know the club has hope for Gresham, but after looking at those two JLT games I am not sure he is ready to be a full-time mid. sure develop his game and rotate him through there. Right here and now I would keep him as a small forward rotating through the midfield, rather than play him as a midfield rotating forward. That may then squeeze out Lonie as I would prefer Gresh to be assisted by Long and Parker to add speed and flair to our team.
2019 could be an exciting year. Perhaps not measured by the number of wins, but measured by providing a real blueprint to move forward with, and in having some new key cast members as key planks in that framework.

With Steven and Carlisle on the sidelines it is fair to say Steele is our number one player right here and right now.

Re: It's time to talk about Jack Steele.
From Sunday's match.
"Jack Steele (StK)
115 points
If you weren’t sure about Steele’s SuperCoach credentials after a 117-point performance in Saints’ the first JLT Series match, you can be now. The 23-year-old tallied 25 disposals, 13 contested possessions, 10 tackles, two goal assists and 115 points against the Bulldogs in another standout all-round display."

Don't think we'll ever have another Lenny (my all time fave) but gee I see a lot of his qualities in Jack Steele.
Similar background too, Lenny from Sydney but spent development time in Canberra with NSW-ACT Rams, Steeley a Canberra boy who spent development time in Sydney with Giants academy.
Hope he's in for a huge year!
