What do we want for $800,000 pa?
To put this in perspective if I can remember correctly in the last year I worked (2007) I was on about $110,000pa. My wife who is a Professor at a Melbourne university is on $180,000. The Prime Minister is on $528,000.
And Dan Hannebery can't train and be in the leadership group for $800,000pa. FFS.

Its sport. Unfortunately the real world and wages have never related to sport properly. They are all overpaid kids, every single one of them in the AFL.
Example: A guy that barely kicks a football in the NFL earns more than the highest paid AFL footy player per year.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

That doesn't put it into perspective at all.Gershwin wrote: ↑Tue 26 Mar 2019 6:46pm To put this in perspective if I can remember correctly in the last year I worked (2007) I was on about $110,000pa. It actually removes all context and is a ridiculous comparison.

Totally irrelevant. American President gets $400,000, Lebron James gets close to $40,000,000. Yes, I know it's Trump, but an illogical comparison in the current world.

Re: What do we want for $800,000 pa?
We lose our 2019 2nd round pick which could be as high as pick 19. Probably pick 21-24.
Not to mention reputational damage and a perception we are a retirement village or a 'jobs for mates' amateur club and that we were 'desperate' and 'didn't do our homework'.
Even if it is just perception - perception itself is a real issue.
Add to that, Brisbane and Carlton, who have both finished lower than us in recent times, have managed to recruit Charlie Cameron, Lachie Neale, Will Setterfield and Mitch McGovern in the last 2 seasons.
At the same time and with no fanfare - the Hawks recruited Scrimshaw who already looks a different player.
Yes -we did very well getting Jack Steele but that was 3 years ago now.

JFK earned $1 a year. A long time ago, but still.

That's pretty seeing he only works about 3 to 4 hours per week. Trump that is.

A completely and utterly ridiculous comparison, maybe run some of your ideas for posts past your wife in future before hitting the send button.Gershwin wrote: ↑Tue 26 Mar 2019 6:46pm To put this in perspective if I can remember correctly in the last year I worked (2007) I was on about $110,000pa. The exact trade was
So if our second rounnd is 21-24 then the 28 is roughly equivalent and we got to spend it last year. The Swans have traded Hannebery and pick 28 to the Saints, and received pick 39 and St Kilda's 2019 second-round pick in return.
Then we got Hannebury for a pick a bit better than 39.
I personally couldn't give a stuff what other people think of the club.

A decent coach
If we are paying Cho 500K we should offer Luke Beveridge $1million +
Would Bevo have buckled if his footy boss at the Dogs wanted him to recruit a player like Hanners?

Re: What do we want for $800,000 pa?
Good question but, I suspect that a Premiership coach wouldn' t have to buckle to too many. Whilst I'd love Bevo to be our coach - it should be noted that their 2016 Premiership team has utterly imploded under Bevo. Crazy fall from such a lofty perch with a solid young team. Maybe they just managed to flukily capture lightening in a bottle during a brief - yet all important business-end of the season - in September 2016.

There is a certain element of mongrel mixed in with a certain element of brilliance that makes Bevo a hard taskmaster. It can break some individuals, but I have a feeling that the Doggies will be back playing finals before we do.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Wed 27 Mar 2019 12:14pmGood question but, I suspect that a Premiership coach wouldn' t have to buckle to too many. Some of their players especially the ones who had personal issues outside of football imploded, but that happens at every club
Ohhh...one other thing. Winning a flag is never a fluke

Re: What do we want for $800,000 pa?
Indeed. Flags are rarely fluked. And yes, Bevo is a ripper who I've had quite some exposure to at St Bede's and it's no real surprise to anyone there that he was able to galvanise a rabble of a footy club and take it to the pinnacle. Just a shame it wasn't our club.Scollop wrote: ↑Wed 27 Mar 2019 2:04pmThere is a certain element of mongrel mixed in with a certain element of brilliance that makes Bevo a hard taskmaster. Re: What do we want for $800,000 pa?
I think its not that uncommon for a good coach to come on board and the team improves almost immediately
e g Luke Beveridge, remember when Hinkley took over P A they were in shambles, Lyon with us,and Freo
The hard one is to stay on the roller coaster and get success Harwick did and Buckley nearly.
I just cant see us getting anywhere with our coach and we don't have the list/potential.

The simple answer to your question: An A grader who stars for us every week he plays. And if we are not getting that return on investment then, as loyal supporters, we have ever right to complain.Gershwin wrote: ↑Tue 26 Mar 2019 6:46pm To put this in perspective if I can remember correctly in the last year I worked (2007) I was on about $110,000pa.
