Re: Changes for bombers
Hi Jaxons your changes have some merit I like what you recommend in parts.jaxons wrote: ↑Sun 24 Mar 2019 11:25pm This would be my team for this week, 4 changes, and pulling a few surprises, like Bruce to CHB and Newnes to back flank.
All 4 backs can kick the ball and have speed, not including Full back and Centre half backs.
Geary to play as a midfield tagger only.
Long very lucky to stay in this team based on a poor game today, Dunstan stiff to be dropped but he has been average for a while now and body language is poor as well.
Also despite playing well today in backline I would rather Battle in forward line.
But "Yeah No" would freak out at this, it is too imaginative for him.
He will bring in Brown for Joyce, one change.
B: Webster Brown Savage
HB: Newnes Bruce McKenzie
C: Sinclair Steele Billings
HF: Gresh Marshall Battle
F: Lonie Membrey Parker
R: Pierce Ross Steven
I:C Acres Clark Geary Long
IN: Acres, Clark, Marshall, Brown
OUT: Joyce, Wilkie, Kent, Dunstan
One query, you were a fan of Dunstan we had a robust debate about him a couple of years back and you defended him passionately and predicted he would be the next Captain of St Kilda. I never saw it and I expect him to not be at our club next season. Not that he is the worst player going around but our mix in the midfield doesn’t work with him in there along with Steele and Ross. He won’t play in our next strong Saints team that’s my opinion. You seem to share that now stating he has been average for awhile.

Re: Changes for bombers
Yep I have been a fan for a long time, but he is not blossoming at all.
His body language is poor, he looks sulky to me.
I blame the coaching as he is not being developed the right way.
He should be a beauty but has stagnated for too long.
Patience is wearing thin.
Reckon if he went to another club we would be embarrassed as I do believe he can play.

Re: Changes for bombers
That’s a damning assessment of our development team....
He was always slow and a slow player must have atleast one area of his game where he is exceptional...
Creative hands, efficient foot skills, great decision making , strong and courageous are all examples of skills that high level players can possess even when they are slow.
Dunstan doesn’t have anything that is exceptional it’s just average to good in most areas with hardness being his one area where he is strong and above average.
There was a play at the Coventry end when he had the ball he had a quick decision to make on the outside to release a player with quick hands he didn’t see it and then he lazily tried to drop the ball onto his foot and it got smothered wasting an excellent chance for a goal scoring opportunity.
In transition he is a liability and his decision making and execution when we have the ball isn’t consistent enough in my opinion.

Re: Changes for bombers
I don't know him and I don't know anyone that knows him, so this is only a question and I'm not making any accusations, but there was talk that Saints had a few players that like to party hard. Is he one of them? If so, his decision making and his skills could be affected and you can't blame his development. I firmly believe that if you abuse your body or drink excessively it will impact at the highest level. If he doesn't party harder than the next bloke then why has he stagnated? You can still improve your skills and your fitness and your decision making when you play for Sandy

Pure speculation with no basis in fact to back it up.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 25 Mar 2019 1:34am I don't know him and I don't know anyone that knows him, so this is only a question and I'm not making any accusations, but there was talk that Saints had a few players that like to party hard. There is no way McKenzie will be dropped. He was one of our better players.SMS wrote: ↑Mon 25 Mar 2019 10:16am OUT: McKenzie (play mid or vfl), Dunstan, Kent, Pierce

Re: Changes for bombers
Joyce was good you weirdos
Out: MCKENZIE because he cant play back and he aint better than ross, billings, steven gresh, newnes in the middle.
Its about balance jesus christ you guys
Kent makes us unbalanced - need clark
Pierce is useless if he aint gonna win the taps. Marshall please
IF richo is any good (which hes not the smug weird f***)
BUT if he has any clue the changes will be as follows
BROWN for McKenzie
CLARK for Kent
ACRES for Dunstan
MARSHALL for Pierce
We will find out thursday night if richo has any f****** idea
Easiest changes to see.
I will accept McKenzie over Joyce/Savage maybe. but thats it. If he does anything else Ill be livid and be talking to higher ups about sacking him. He better choose carefully. Im a serious saint person. I wont stand for crap.

Re: Changes for bombers
Cant have a forward line without a big target when bruce rucks therefore marshall for lewey a must.
Acres is a tough match up when forward as he can take a mark yet is a mid. Steven and acres gresh to rotate through forward line. Brown is the one certainty.
Would like to see hunter in, but cant see 4 changes to a winning team

It would have to be Joyce assuming no injuries. Don't need Joyce battle and brown in same team

Re: Changes for bombers
He actually mightn't get a gig, the coach wasn't too positive when talking about him but seemed wrapped in Acres, Clark's and Marshall's performances.

Re: Changes for bombers
Brown's inclusion I think will largely depend as to whether the Injectors bring in James Stewart. They don't have a particularly tall fwd line right now and I think the best match up for Brown would prob be McKernan (and he's no monster). I would not be surprised if we remain unchanged at the back. Having said that - Joyce did make a couple of clangers. But ....
I firmly maintain that our defenders have to do way more pure defending (other than GCS and may Carl) as our midfield is so completely one-dimensional and slow. The poor buggers see so much unhindered ball coming in that it's just not funny. Robbo made all of that look better over P/S but, he's no longer there to intercept or cover 3rd man up.
We're just caught one-out in defence too often as we turn the ball over and get slaughtered in transition.

Its either Joyce or Wilkie, Brown has to come in.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 25 Mar 2019 1:05pmIt would have to be Joyce assuming no injuries. Don't need Joyce battle and brown in same team
Wilkie would be stiff, so would Joyce. I think we've found two beauties there and it would be great if they played, but one of them has to make way.
Its actually good that we have that problem.

He needs to go back to Sandy for a spell, get the footy 35 times and maintain an acceptable level of efficiency by foot.

Re: Changes for bombers
I reckon speed and good intercepting marking will be front and center this week so does Brown fit the bill? It wont surprise me if Wilkie and Battle are our new poster boys in the backline by years end and Brown is struggling for a game. Isn't that what our development needs?

Re: Changes for bombers
He arguably won us the game or at least saved us from a draw yesterday, however he may be lucky if that single act saves his bacon this week but I think he will have a breakout year once he gets going. The light bulb came on for him in the late part of last season.Vazelos wrote: ↑Mon 25 Mar 2019 12:03amHi Jaxons your changes have some merit I like what you recommend in parts.jaxons wrote: ↑Sun 24 Mar 2019 11:25pm This would be my team for this week, 4 changes, and pulling a few surprises, like Bruce to CHB and Newnes to back flank.
