When I say fragile, I refer more to him not making it through games on the basis of injury. He’s lucky to run out 5 games without an injury

With regards to technique to marking... I agree with you. He gets too far under the ball and tries to mark it directly over his head which exposes the ball to the defender +++ and also reduces the strength of the grab as it’s uncomfortable.

Regarding leading with his head... didn’t see the game so I’ll reserve judgment

Forward Paddy McCartin sustained his eighth concussion since 2014 – and first since round seven last year – on the stroke of half time, copping a hip from teammate Ben Long in a marking contest.

"He'll be assessed as per normal, you just wait to see from a symptoms point of view," Richardson said.

"I think we all know Paddy's had a little bit of history there, (being a) JLT game, we're not going to take any risks.

"He's fine in there (rooms) now, he'll need a bit of time to clear the head.

"Our doctors, who are brilliant, will obviously make sure when he's right, he's right. We don't know when that'll be, it could be that he's right by Tuesday, it could be that it takes longer, who knows."

It’s quite obvious he was off due to a head knock, which has been reported as concussion, which played out pretty similar to his previous ones.

I've probably been Paddy McCartin's biggest knocker over the past couple of years but for me the best thing to come out of yesterday's game was Paddy's performance and the potential upside to his game.

Let's face it, he's been overweight the whole time he's been at the club, but now he's trimmed down considerably and it's made a hell of a difference. He's moving a lot more freely, more mobile, greater second and third efforts, his kicking seems to have improved out of sight and he seems a lot more confident in his marking.

I am just so wrapt for him and look forward to seeing how he progresses this year....the kid's gunna make it
