Re: Drug use Rife at the Saints in '06 - Grant Thomas
From The Age:
Asked about former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas' claims last week that Thomas had been told drug use was common among players when he coached the Saints, Riewoldt said "there was absolutely no way that was going on".
“The part of that diatribe that really caught my attention was the player had said to him [Thomas] that it was rife," Riewoldt said.
“I straight away thought, ‘Geez, I was skipper in ’05, I hope the boys don’t think I ratted them out here’. So I called Grant and said, ‘Who was it?’
“He wouldn’t tell me, but I’ve got a fair idea and I don’t think that player could spell rife. I don’t think that was in his vernacular.
“What he [Thomas] did say was that he [initially] thought it might have been one or two and it would have been more than that.
I like the line: "...I don’t think that player could spell rife," which gives me a pretty strong clue as to who it was as well.

Which part of that is supposed to be kind of funny?tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sun 24 Feb 2019 10:34pm Kind of funny story. I remember talking to Butterss at Docklands after a Saints game one day (the year he came in) and I accidently spilt my beer over his leg and shoe when I shook his hand. I had one of those moments where this high flying intelligent super serious businessman thought I was probably just another half drunk member....if only I knew what he was really like back then!

Basically....who was the dumbest bastard we had playing in 06? That is the culprit.
Well done Nick for setting the record straight plus Dal Santo earlier on.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Big ballsy thing to do by Riewoldt, I wonder where he got the motivation?

The cabbage he gets from Rupert requires him to be part of the story, there's your motivation.

Re: Drug use Rife at the Saints in '06 - Grant Thomas
Roo was trying to just make sure people didn't think he was involved and to distant himself from the GT slur, but in doing so he has brought the issue out into the mainstraem media and has angered current AFL players
I don't think Roo is doing any one any favours and after GT dumped on just his own players within one team and on a moderately listened to podcast, Roo has trumped him and dumped a semi trailer load of stinking inuendo and basically implied illegal or recreational drug use is rife in ALL teams.
Was Roo claiming he knew what was going on at other clubs? ...or was he looking back at when he was single and going out partying? The guys interviewing him didn't ask 'how' he came to make such conclusions but if you put 1 + 1 together it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that his first hand knowledge would have been through his most recent playing days at St Kilda.
Just like our former coach should be careful about making general statements, I reckon our past players should also be mindful because all it does is make people wonder what their experiences were when they were part of the St Kilda Football Club

I would think any bloke who would sharpen the studs on his boots before a game would fit into that category.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 25 Feb 2019 5:08pmFraser Gehrig? Cain Ackland? Yes, they're over cashed up kids with NFI about the real world but these little bastards of AFL footballers need to get off the gear and stop taking the piss out of the system. Plain and simple. Do it after you retire. Obviously though, most wouldn't snort any of this s*** or stick it on their tongue. Fairdinkum.

the only problem with Captain 06 fitting the bill is he could probably spell rife
was GT’s fave wasn’t he
