I'm sure many AFL players have gambling problems, sex addictions and mental health issues. They're human.

Lead story of the HS is Cousins Meth Problem. Scroll down the heading is Dal Santo Miffed by Thommos Drug claims.

But what does old potato cakes and dim sims get out of making this statement?
Can we order chips and grilled fish with that?

Shut up Thomas. Seriously...why? 13 years ago...
Pretty sure some ex players will refute this strongly like Nick Dal Santo.
I'm sure some players partake in party drugs here and there but I believe Dal Santo over the obese man that looks like he is 3 seconds away from a heart attack.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

As far back as 10,000-8,000BC, it is widely thought that the ancients were partaking in magic mushrooms and opium. Been around forever really and mankind dabbling in it is old, very old.

Yeah, well, "how long does it take to drive from Hanging Rock to the Grampians?", GT asked Sam during the podcast, no doubt to see if Sam was under the influence of recreationals.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Drug use Rife at the Saints in '06 - Grant Thomas
I grew up in an environment where drug use and distribution was rife, not just recreational drugs, but also, in terms of sport and fitness, performance enhancing drugs. I tried most of them. A on a few occasions, I used a drug to recover from a night out, so I could play sport. I'd had advice that it would help.
Before you make any assumptions, I grew up with fairly wealthy parents and went to a very good private school. I knew recreational drugs were available to me at school at 13 years of age and I had access to the cash to afford them and when I got serious about sports, it was obvious that performance enhancing drugs were readily available too. It felt like it was just readily acceptated and normal but I knew it wasnt.
My parents never had a clue and most concerned adults in my life at that time would have been shocked by my behaviour had they known. That was over 35 years ago.
I was never addicted and most of my peers were recreational users but, in reflection, I often felt trapped by the covert nature of my association with the people who were profiting from their sale.
In contrast, drugs ruined my big brothers life and his addictions affected many around him in ways that are still impacting on his children and grandchildren, a decade after he took his own life.
I never really socialised with my brother, he was 10 years older but it seemed that one day he just lost his s*** and this played out in his mental health for some time before his death.
It's a very personal opinion and Im no innocent but my respect for GT just raised a notch.
I want the AFL to stamp it out of its industry and conversations like these are the way to bring it out in the open.
After all, it's just a game and ambitious, impressionable young men and women are being placed in vulnerable positions. If the AFL is going to take a stand it should be on a solid platform, without question on its integrity.

Are you saying that anybody denying taking drugs is lying?
I have never taken any drugs in my lifetime. Never even be offered any.
I find it really sad that a lot of people do drugs and that they feel the need to partake to have a good time.

TBH I'd rather our players partake in a few nose beers which don't negatively affect their fitness or calorie intake rather than the legal mouth beers which most certainly do.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Wed 20 Feb 2019 10:45pm News Flash! To be fair, it was just something that popped on the SMT podcast.
Thomo didn't give an interview to a journalist or media outlet, it just came up in conversation - he said his piece - and they moved on.
Christ, the carry on in the media and in here...please, just make the footy start so people can fill their lives with meaning.

Hmmmmm ..... how about testing AFL HQ ..... there would be a few nervous nellies if that were to happen.
The corporate industry is rife with drug use, more or less a right of passage for exec's.
If I was an AFL player I would be saying, yeh no problem test away HQ but you guys go first.

I get really sad when I see governments addicted to revenue streams from alcohol sales.
The only difference is alcohol is made legal by governments, the lying starts with Governments waging thier political "war" on certain drugs but not others, one of the others being alcohol which creates significantly more negative impacts to society than thier illegall variety.

Re: Drug use Rife at the Saints in '06 - Grant Thomas
“CQSaint’s post changed the sentiment of the thread from, Thommo’s a dodo”, to “Thommo speaks the truth”. Amazing. I was part of the “piss on Thommo” parade there. I identify one way with Thommo, being a bit like me in one respect, using awkward metaphors and phrases at times to make a point.
Point here is that it just amazing, that one poster can tell a story about his life, and taken on face value sets up an amazing turntable, (prepare for awkward metaphor) like an old loco getting turned around 180 degrees, and when CQ said he respects Thommo a little more, I’m like, hell yeah!
I’m sure Thommos question about Hanging Rock to the Grampions had some purpose, but I just didn’t know what it is.
