FORUM UPDATE
Hi all
The forum has been updated to the latest software. The update allows for a few new admin tools and also closes some security holes.
Please report any problems that you are having with the forum because of the update, so I can get fixes done before the season starts.
Simon

Re: FORUM UPDATE
Hello BfUSA
just read the new rules
can I please ask?
Are you the sole moderator nowadays looking for the offending posts?
and
In exactly the same way the "like/thanked button" records the user it would be very helpful if the forum recorded those users that hit the "report button"

Re: FORUM UPDATE
There are three registered global moderators, but we no longer confer on every decision.
Moderators do not "look" for offending posts. They moderate on reported posts assessing the post against the rules before any action.
The "report" function cannot be made public.

global moderators = authorised to moderate in all forums
with new rules in place I am definitely open to adding 2 new extra moderators
however these would be posters who have no received multiple warning or bans in the past

Re: FORUM UPDATE
Good to hear new rules and forum update. Well, well overdue.
The majority come to this site to hear news about our club and bounce feedback around in a friendly manner.. Over the last 6 months the forum has been filled with a ridiculous amount of personal attacks and infighting. In short, totally irrelevant crap that has no relevance to why people joined this forum.

The "report" function cannot be made public.
I take it the three other mods are kept anonymous?
Its the last issue that I feel needs further exploration
In an effort to build forum community - the public "like" button builds a connection
But in the eternal battle of hearts and souls of posters on this forum - there seems to be a glaring imbalance between the type of posters that are using the function. user against user so to speak
No I am not suggestion that within the rules there have been injustices
Its more that it seems to me that the report function might be more tempered if it were public
And we both know the report could be made public - it is a choice.

Re: FORUM UPDATE
How about if it just indicated if a post has been reported? Say the report function button turns red or something.sunsaint wrote: ↑Thu 07 Feb 2019 6:21pm Hello BfUSA

Re: FORUM UPDATE
I am not a computer programmer.
I don’t know whether or not the report function can automatically show whether a post has been reported or who has reported it BUT
(a) I would have engage and pay a phpBB expert to advise and provide options regarding the above USD$15-45
(b) making public who made a report is counter productive because it only further inflames conflict or creates new conflict (reports are often made by well intending 3rd parties) AND ultimately such public exposure will become a deterrent for well meaning people wanting to point out rule breaches and as a result rule breaches may not get reported.
But perhaps that suits your agenda?
Short answer is:
- reports will remain anonymous and encouraged
- manually generated notifications will remain for posts that have breached the rules
Thanks for the suggestion.
Simon

And yes it would take a mod to the installation
I'm just applying the mum rule - to sort it out amongst yourselves
And the even older dictum that you just don't dob
So I guess it's dad's home and it's off to bed for the trouble maker

Re: FORUM UPDATE
Great. Then we agree. The behaviour is childish and disruptive to the family unit. So some rules are in place to help restore some civility and allow this family to discuss the Saints without screaming matches and pots and pans being thrown at each other. Nobody has to go to their room as long as they stay civil and just discuss the Saints. By the way there is a room in this house where you can be as childish as you like as long as we don’t have to call the police - it is the next room over called the Animal Enclosure.sunsaint wrote: ↑Sat 09 Feb 2019 3:24amOk yeah I'm a trouble maker with an agendaBackFromUSA wrote: ↑Fri 08 Feb 2019 6:51pm

Re: FORUM UPDATE
whats the database level like?
I noticed the thread gets duplicated in the AE but not the posts - it would be beneficial if all posts inn the general forum are duplicated in the AE ( obviously not vice verse)
We both know the reported post gets highlighted for MOD and ADMIN - so thats what Im getting at for the general user
anyhoo - the agenda behind all these troublesome questions - is this
I am very intrigued as to the levels of reported posts ?
Since the function has been added & the very anonymous nature of the report button now - have you seen a marked increase ?

Not sure if reported posts can be set to be seen by all.
Report function has been going for a while. Would be around 20-30 reports per week last year.
