Paddy Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Post: # 1773268Post Dave McNamara »

Lots of doom and gloom. Sure some blue sky stuff too, but that seems more blind optimism than based on anything concrete. So let's look at some positives. And what better player than everyone's favourite IDDM power forward? Seems from all the whispers that Paddy is now in ripping shape, again, and about to take the competition by storm, again.
“But I’ve been through a lot of stuff and got it all ticked off. I’ve played a lot of footy this year and it’s been brilliant.”

Twelve months on, McCartin has played a dozen games and said the difference in his game and his enjoyment of it could not be greater.

“From where I am now to this time last year is a pretty stark difference,” he said.

“To say I’m enjoying my footy would be an understatement – I’m absolutely loving it. The future wasn’t probably looking too bright to be honest but now it’s fantastic and I’m really enjoying playing.”

“I know how it works. It doesn’t really phase me at all to be honest,” he said.

“I’m just really happy to be playing as much footy as I can.

“I’m really keen to push forward this year... because we haven’t really got anything to lose. We’ll just go out there and give it a crack.”

The Saints recruiting and list manager said McCartin's commitment was a great boost to the club. "He has become a really popular member of our playing group and obviously sees a bright future at the Saints. Paddy has shown great character and resilience in the way he has confronted every challenge over the past three years."

McCartin's teammate Seb Ross said last week that McCartin was the fittest he had been since joining the club and he expected him to make a strong contribution.

The time away from the "crash and bash" of AFL football has helped St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin get himself in the best shape of his career as he heads into his first AFL season without Nick Riewoldt as a teammate.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/202 ... 0lv0o.html
"He has been able to get himself the fittest he has ever been, dropped a heap of puppy fat and as soon as he gets back into main training I'm sure he will be clunking them as well."Ross said the time away allowed McCartin to develop parts of his game that needed attention as he looks to cement a spot in the Saints' forward line.

"It's really good for him mentally too to be able to take a step back away from the crash and bash of footy and be able to work on other parts of his game that he might not have been able to work on," Ross said.

St Kilda youngster Paddy McCartin says he is fitter than ever heading into his fourth AFL season, revealing he’s running personal best times over the pre-season.

McCartin told 3AW he’d slashed more than 30 seconds off his previous best time over three kilometres.

YOUNG St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin has turned to Geelong Falcons conditioning boss Matt Critchley in a bid to return to pre-season training in elite shape.

Three times a week, McCartin is put through a series of gruelling workouts to ensure he hits the ground running when he officially returns to Saints training on November 7.

The strength-endurance workouts, which include high-intensity grinder and bike work.

“I’m a pretty competitive person and I’d love to be tearing games apart,” he said.

“I think there’s things I’ve got to keep working on. I think towards the end of the year I was showing some signs that I could compete at the level and that gives myself a lot of confidence going into next year, and hopefully it gives the team confidence that I’m able to produce.”

YOUNG St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin has turned to dietary and conditioning guru Ted Dore in a bid to return to pre-season training in elite shape. "Diabetes is only a word", says Dore.

McCartin attributes his yet again career best shape to Dore's revolutionary High Y-box-binding Protein 1pE loganvery and pollywaffle powerhouse diet.

I hope the best for him and our club. I expect zero greatness from him, so if he succeeds I'll be very excited.
Go Paddy!

Lots of media again this year selling his potential and he is supposedly fitter than ever. The poor guy has a major illness and will never achieve what is expected of him. His younger brother in his first year has shown more promise than Paddy has in 5 years. Paddy is just filling time until King is ready to take over.

:D
Myopia is only a word.
But on my driver's licence, it says I must wear corrective lenses while driving.
I can't see a thing without them.
If there is a physical barrier or impediment, it can't be dismissed.
Must manage it.
So 'only a word' ? That's short-sighted

Paddy has been poor so far and based on form should be traded at year end so we get some value for him if he doesn't improve. Take the diabetes out of the equation he just isn't that good. He has below average hands poor goal kicking no real speed or tank no second effort not great getting the ball of the deck. I just don't see what people see in him. The diabetes should have been a red flag for us. It wasn't
