So where has he tried to cause trouble? He was spot on with his comments r.e. forum. You are a blight on this forum, you are the one causing trouble.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Mon 26 Nov 2018 2:31pm The comment was in relation to drafting Bytel. Plus its true. The staff at Moorabbin know what they're doing in drafting Bytel and his injury. You and others don't.
Geez you look for anything to cause trouble Draggers.

That's your choice. You can think whatever you want. I wish I had your trust but I can't say I really understand it given our recent history with the likes of Freeman.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote:Doesn't really matter what we think.
I trust our recruiters and med staff are confident he can be a long term player. They wouldn't have drafted him otherwise. Heard a rumour he dominated as a 17 year old. Only reason he didn't this year was because of the back issue. He should have gone alot higher in the draft.
Hopefully he does get over it because his highlights are exceptional.

Look. All I'm saying is have some faith in the staff at RSEA Park. They definitely know better than anyone on here and have inside info we will never learn about or get told about. Every single player we drafted this year have some risks, some more than others of course.saint-stu wrote: ↑Mon 26 Nov 2018 9:55pmThat's your choice. You can think whatever you want. They took a punt on Freeman (3rd year player) and it didn't work out in the end, but we lost very little. Bytal is a completely different story getting drafted at 18 years old. He was a steal at 41.

Ted I'm sure they knew what they were doing when they recruited Nathan Freeman & Jessie Smith & look how that turned out .It is purely speculative ATM so please don't put a glossy spin on everything the club does as it doesn't always end up smelling rosestedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Mon 26 Nov 2018 2:09pm Doesn't really matter what we think.

Same. I used to have back spasms a couple of times a year but with appropriate stretching have been good for about 3 years. Fact is he's probably still growing so his back can and will heal.

Clearly in the top two or three mids taken this year only injury prevented him going in the top ten.

Freeman...it was worth the punt. I don't mind the club going for a punt every now and then. It can pay off.
Bytal's story has nothing to do with the above.

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
His skills look good to me, can use his left foot which a lot of current saints players cannot do despite being in the system for years and thereby what I call "non -learners". As he stated, he did have stress fractures which healed and now has the disc problem. Bit of a worry with ongoing back issues. Just have to get him fit and stack a bit of muscle on and see how he goes. Definetly looks like an inside mid.

ST KILDA draftee Jack Bytel is headed for surgery on his troublesome back, placing his debut season at Moorabbin in doubt.
The 18-year-old will go under the knife on Friday to correct a bulging disc in his lower back that he nursed throughout 2018.
Having undergone an intensive medical screening in the lead-up to last year's NAB AFL Draft, club doctors felt surgery was a likely option before he was selected at pick 41.
In his early time at the Saints, Bytel has been restricted to running on the weight-bearing AlterG treadmill away from the main group.
"Jack is a player with a lot of promise, and he couldn't have been more impressive in terms of his character since joining the club," head of football Simon Lethlean said.
"We knew when selecting Jack that his injury would likely require surgery, but we wanted to see him complete a block of rehab training to know for certain that it was the best option.
"The specialists are confident this procedure will allow Jack to put this injury behind him and we look forward to Jack becoming the player we know that he can for the Saints over the coming years."
Bytel is expected to have a recovery period of four to six weeks before he slowly increases his training program in the first half of the season.

Club knew what they were getting into.
I know for a fact Melbourne wanted him. And attempted to shuffle picks to get him.
Long termer and worth a crack as potential top 10 if he was right out of gate. Our job is to get him right.

I’m happy with that - I thought as soon as we got him - he doesn’t need to play 2019 as long as he is right for 2020 - so I’m glad the club taking the slow approach

Bytel. Great selection but still a long term prospect. Would have gone top 10-20 if not for the injury.

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
Club got him at pick 41 so lets put it into perspective, third round pick give or take and he wont play this year as the club knew. they tried training him to see what state it was and as expected surgery is teh best option. SO get it done now. Sooner he gets it done sooner he gets to recover.
Difference between him and Freeman is he was still playing with his complaint for a while where as Freeman couldn't and he already had surgery. Put him in moth balls for this year and wait until 2020

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
While all those speculations about Jack may be true and it is only pick 41, I think the injury question marks over Hannebery, King and Kent, and following the protracted failure of Freeman, just has most fans wishing we would draft the occasional fit player into the club.
Nee!

Just watched the video of him and lethlean talking about his upcoming surgery - Gee he speaks well for a young bloke! Looks really switched on, and natural/relaxed with the camera. If his footy can take off he’ll be a real media asset.

They also got him in his own video interviewing the fans. Looks like the club is really into him and his personality in general. I have faith.
