Why did we drop Tim Allen at the end of ‘92
?
Saw him on a few YT clips. Great skills. He left us at 22 years old played a few for Hawthorn and one at Geelong. By ‘95 he was out of the AFL system at 24/25 years old?
Who did we get for him?
I know we had Plugger and Loewe as Geelong had Big Billy and Ablett but still.. Plugger was often sidelined. Was he potentially as good as say a Heatley?

If I remember correctly he had an offer to host ‘Tool Time’ that he couldn’t knock back.

There were rumors that he was a bit too much Bob Marley, if you know what I mean.
He had a lot of skill and class

I remember watching the reserves and he used to dominate there but didn't have the same impact in the seniors. I think he was really good on the peninsula after finishing his VFL career.
Might have been a confidence thing or he was one of those giuys who was a star at every lower level but not at the top.

Great hands, and saw him kick a left foot hooking goal in play beauty, swinging around , after feigning for a rightward movement. Sort of skill I would have thought rod Owen and that kind of level player had. Perhaps lacked grunt. Just saying, because we lost a highly skilled player. I guess the fact that he didn’t don’t set the world on fire at Hawthorn or Geelong vindicates the move. Apparently, we got number 191 in the following years draft! I wonder who. Just a curious, off the beaten track, tale about recruiting I suppose. Perhaps skills are overrated by us lot, when we say, we don’t have enough elite talent. I’m not saying he was in Winmar skill-territory or anything like, but even so.
I saw Franki Coglan in those vids too. I don’t know how skilled he was but he certainly worked well, read the way well too?

I really liked him and thought he’d make it.
I seem to recall(but maybe wrong) him kicking 5 one day against Fitzroy.
Nice mover, good hands and good left foot.
Per haps he did lack the grunt?
Looked like a player to me.

He gets a whole page in Plugger's autobiography. Not bad for a guy who played just 22 games with us.
He was really good in 1992. He had a great dash for a player of his size (191cm was big back then). To me, he looked nailed on to make it. I can only assume we must have gotten a great offer from Hawthorn to trade him at the end of that year.
I have no doubt he could have made it had a few more breaks fallen his way.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

27 years later...Saints fans still remember a potential future star that quickly disappeared. There are probably a few posters on here that weren't even born yet in 92. Boy, times fly by. Still remember this bloke thinking he would be a superstar.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.
