The Doc said the 12 goal effort was the best game he had ever seen anyone play in his life
Yes Steve I remember that the Doc just loved him like we all did.

I was another huge Lockett fan and had a reserved seat at Moorabbin next to his mother and sister for three or four seasons. Although separated, they would often meet up with his father, Plugger senior, during the half time break.

His mum and sis both loved StKilda and would attend games when he was out injured or suspended. I think they would have been very disappointed when he left the Saints.

Can’t wait to watch. Seeing Plugger in full flight as a child was the sole reason I fell in love with footy so much.

For example, I remember the day he kicked his 100th goal for the season against Footscray in1987. Can you also recall his 101st goal on that same day? From my memory he coolly slotted the winning goal (number 101 to equal Bill Mohr's record). This record equalling goal was kicked from an angle deep in the final term.
I was their too mate & I went with my sister & my now wife (who was a filth supporter before that day) .It was her first time at Moorabbin & the passion of the fans & the sheer exuberance of the moment was enough to convert her & to this day she is still a die hard saints supporter.Probably one of the most memorable moments of my life.

Wow, I remember those games better than I recall anything from 2012 to 2018.

Gee you’d hate being on the lead to cuz as a forward.
He was so unselfish and had a sense of where Plugger would lead to.

Nothing had Moorabbin rocking like Plugger kicking a bag.

The Sts wore black armbands in this game for a young fan who had passed away during the week from a disease( maybe leukaemia?) He was buried in a pair of Bark’s socks as his family had asked. I remember reading this in the aftermath of the game in the paper

Franky Coghlan was another who had the Lockett radar finely tuned and was totally selfless 40m from goal. Very handy footballer.
