The videos on the club site of the interviews with the newbies are really worth watching, especially for the so called mature agers.

The barman, the aircon dude, the pipeline digger, accountant, teacher etc ....

They’ve all worked so hard and seem genuinely stoked to have been picked up. And I reckon great to have some different backgrounds around the joint.

Looking forward to seeing them out on the deck at Etihad (Marvel, whatever) as soon as they’re ready.

Max when going for a mark looks like a young Kossi and when he runs a young Roo. Hate to put pressure on the kid but he really does look the real deal. As for being over the knee well he moves beautifully at the moment. But obviously early days.

I get that he’s a rugby legend but I’m not sure how far that gets him.

I think that there are various ways to inspire. No all are suited to being a main coach, or delivering orations.

Some are very suited to just working in small teams because they really know their stuff and Slater may well be that.

One of my BILs played forty odd games as a Socceroo. He is great in small group, skills, assisting etc. But not as a head coach as it is just not his thing.

Billy knows what it take to excel and if he can communicate this in small groups, or one or one, then he will be a great acquisition. Though it could go the other way too and just being window dressing
