PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
Welcome Jack - but "Contested ball-winner who excels around stoppages"
No mention of outside speed!

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
He's an inside mid.
Killed it last year as a bottom ager. He is a decent player. Got injured this year, really should have gone probably pick 5-15.
Its a good pick.

We're just meme picking now... another Jack!
Fox Footy had ???s around his ball use which is a little worrying for us.

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
I hope that you are right - but:
2 picks down - Gun Forward - Gun Inside Mid
Where is our elite Outside Run????
Midfield: Skill and pace are the needs here. St Kilda has plenty of inside types but needs more elite onballers. Jade Gresham will eventually go in there full-time but he needs to improve his tank, while Hunter Clark, Coffield and Ben Long could eventually join him.
Rucks: Definitely a weakness. Billy Longer is coming off a seriously disappointing season and Lewis Pierce has lined up in four career games. Questions loom about whether either can be consistently competitive. Also, more depth is required, with Rowan Marshall the only viable alternative.
The priority: Star power, particularly through the midfield. The only player on St Kilda's list who has been an All Australian is Dan Hannebery and there are doubts around whether he can recapture his best form. - Dinny Navaratnam

The list balance is all wrong. Seven Jacks and only one King.

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
so pick 36 turned into pick 41?
the afl should just get rid of all these exceptions that favour certain clubs and have an uncompromised draft. all academies should be afl academies and paid for by the afl, with all clubs sharing responsibilities in developing youth around oz.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL - Umm - all it means is that a player that we had no chance of selecting is slotted into the draft order to reflect the order that they were selected - IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE AVAILABLE PLAYERS FOR OUR SELECTION!!!desertsaint wrote: ↑Fri 23 Nov 2018 1:17pm so pick 36 turned into pick 41?

This is a really good pick. But he's not f****** fit atm.
Effectively we have drafted two injured players.

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
Great pickup at 41. Should have gone alot higher, but didn't due to injuries. He will be fine.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Know nothing of him but another inside mid with poor balls handling skills doesn't sound good or what we need

Not that it particularly bothers me, but each of those academy players are able to be drafted by other teams, including St Kilda, provided the bid is not matched.
This is what happened when Hawks chose not to match Essendopes bid for Irving Mosquito.
The fact that clubs can bundle up a couple of late junk picks to match a bid at a pick they never ACTUALLY held, means that the draft order is somewhat compromised. I think that's what desertsaint is gettin at

Re: PICK 41 - JACK BYTEL - ST KILDA
From the Hun.
"29. JACK BYTEL
Midfielder, 188cm, 82kg, Calder Cannons
Buckenara says: The Calder Cannons co-captain is a goalkicking midfielder and a very smart footballer who generally makes good decisions with ball in hand. He has a good balance of inside and outside ball-winning ability and was part of the AFL academy, so already has a strong and powerful frame that will only get bigger and stronger. He’s got a penetrating kick on him and strong hands but was unfortunately was restricted this year with a back injury. Clubs will, however, know exactly what he can do and how much ability he has and I believe he could end up being a bargain pick-up if he can get his body right.
Plays like: Mark Ricciuto (Adelaide)
