Re: Welcome Max King
Let’s hope he lives up to the hype.
King
Paddy
Bruce
Membrey
Marshall
Battle
3 in to 6 doesn’t really work, but let’s hope we can also find a few players with the ability to kick it to them!

Re: Welcome Max King
Until I saw his highlights reel I thought Marshall would be given number 23 next year. This guy is a more agile version of Kosi.
I can see King and Marshall swapping between ruck and full-forward for us in a few years time.
My only concern is his kicking for goal, because although his conversion rate is ok he seems to stab at the ball rather than kick fully through it like Kosi did.

Re: Welcome Max King
Was hoping for a classy outside mid, oh well lets hope Max King is the real deal.
But now we have too may talls, they can't all play forward.

Re: Welcome Max King
saints article said he did his ACL and did all rehab with us cos he's a Sandy Dragon, physio Andrew Wallis said he worked his butt off. They reckon great work ethic.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: Welcome Max King
Thought it was worth posting Knightmare’s write up on BF again... if you don’t know BF, Ted will send you the link
Had him at 5 behind Bailey Smith
5. Max King (VIC)
Best position: Key forward
Height, weight: 202cm, 85kg
Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons
Projected draft range: 1-5
Plays like: Joe Daniher
Rationale: Out for the season with a torn ACL after an eight goal, nine mark (six contested) Round 1 effort. As difficult to defend inside 50m as any junior key forward in recent years.
October Ranking: 5
Strengths:
Height
Long arms
Takes front position in marking contests
Draws free kicks inside 50m
Jumps towards the ball when taking marks and takes it at the highest point
Contested marking
One-on-one marking
Reads the drop of the ball
Protects the drop zone on marks
Leap
Agility
Coordination below knees
Leading patterns
Weaknesses:
Endurance
Work rate
Rarely pushes up outside the forward 50m arc
Conversion in front of goal
No established second position

Matthew Lloyd coaches at Haileybury. I reckon he has some resources to draw on in the goal kicking department ...darylcowie wrote:Until I saw his highlights reel I thought Marshall would be given number 23 next year. This guy is a more agile version of Kosi.

Re: Welcome Max King
Lets hope we got the best King, the twin appears to have identical ability but our bloke has a suspect knee.
I'm not even convinced we have the best McCartin....
Seems our club has a healthy respect for our medical team...

Re: Welcome Max King
We certainly do not have the best McCartin.
But McCartin's issue is incurable.
King's problem is curable.

Re: Welcome Max King
I reckon he is already better than Paddy.
We need to get games into
King, Battle & Marshall but not at the expense of Bruce, Membrey or any other forwards.
That means Paddy is a backup when we have no-one else.

I think Paddy will improve dramatically and prove many on here wrong and not before too long!
ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.
