Re: Final Thoughts ahead of the Draft
Anyone know why Max King is a potential generational player?
He used to be a ruck rover and play in the midfield up until 15...
I think he will definitely make it.

I used to be a gun backpocket in the U16 rotating through the midfield (coach was ahead of his time). No one ever kicked a goal on me...ever.
I was a gun.
I was a gun.

As a forward or midfielder?Raph Goat Clarke wrote: ↑Wed 21 Nov 2018 3:34pm Anyone know why Max King is a potential generational player?

Used to bes don't count for much.
Does Max King have elite kicking skills on both sides of his body and the required stamina to play in the midfield at AFL level?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Final Thoughts ahead of the Draft
Im talking about his agility. Meaning he hasn't grown up being a lank. I think he will be ready for AFL a lot sooner than the 3 years most people are saying.

No I'm not saying he will be a midfielder, but I think for the supposed best key position forward in the draft playing most of his juniors as a midfielder is a good thing.

ok so its 1 minute to midnight folks - bullsh!t time over
Unless someone can put it on the line and tell me Max King is going to be the next Roo
(which in turn tells me the club has given up on Paddy - which in turn tells me we shouldnt have extended his contract in jan 2018 - which in turn tells me we could have had two 1st rnd draft picks this year)
then we need a mid
B Smith

It's probably a good thing, I suppose.Raph Goat Clarke wrote: ↑Wed 21 Nov 2018 4:49pm No I'm not saying he will be a midfielder, but I think for the supposed best key position forward in the draft playing most of his juniors as a midfielder is a good thing.
But we want and need a great thing - an A grade, genuine midfielder with elite kicking skills, pace, AFL ready body, etc...
There's no guarantee that any of the recruits will become that (an A grade midfielder), but Bailey Smith seems to tick all the right boxes.
I hope we focus on a genuine midfielder.
We have the big-marking forwards - including Marshall who is 2 metres plus, over 100 kegs and holds his ground well and can take big marks inside 50 - we just need quality delivery.
We will probably recruit Max King instead, if available - it wouldn't surprise - and I'd go along with that if all the top-ranking genuine midfielders were gone. But only then.

If we overlook Max King because we have Paddy McCartin then we are compounding a poor decision in 2014.
If we take a midfielder then I have one word - pace. Rozee would appear to be the one.
Big wraps on Max King. He is the one for me.

Re: Final Thoughts ahead of the Draft
The main reason I would prefer a mid is because statistically mids are less risk of a bust, They are at AFL standard faster and they have a greater impact on a game.sunsaint wrote: ↑Wed 21 Nov 2018 5:00pm ok so its 1 minute to midnight folks - bullsh!t time over

I dont think taking Max is a vote of no confidence in Paddy. Saints have a few tall forwards but none are dominating. Perhaps a future with Max and Paddy is the way to go.
Either way, we will be taking Max UNLESS GC grab him first. Plenty of Experts reckon Max is ahead of Lukosius except for injury. If this happens, the draft will turn on its head. I reckon a couple of SA clubs might want to do a swap i.e. 4 for a 5 and 15

And at 5 please take Smith or Caldwell.
At 15 please take Stocker.
Reunite the King boys at St Kilda in 7 years time.

Agree SC.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Final Thoughts ahead of the Draft
The order you have I think may be incorrect: below is the current order. so if Port want 4. We can trade it for 5 and 10 . Then pick Smith at 5 and hope Ben king slips to 10. If not pick up Caldwell at 10.Dave McNamara wrote: ↑Thu 15 Nov 2018 1:04pmYes please!!! May that happen!fugazi wrote: ↑Thu 15 Nov 2018 1:02pm Personally I think it will go...
1. Walsh to Carlton
2. Luko to GC
3. Max King to GC
Pause for 5 agonizing minutes as Port haggle with us over picks 10 and 15....
Then,
4. Rankine to PA
5. Ben King to GC
6. Blakely to Swans
7. Smith to Saints
8. Caldwell to Dogs
9. Rozee to Adelaide
And depending on how desperate Port were either pick 10
Or pick 15 ( more likely) to us.
Reckon GC will taje a whole elite spine this draft.
We get Smith or Caldwell, I reckon the Rozee interest is a bit of smoke and mirrors to jeep the SA clubs guessing.
Pick 1: Carlton
Pick 2: Gold Coast
Pick 3: Gold Coast (received as compensation for Tom Lynch)
Pick 4: St Kilda
Pick 5: Port Adelaide (received off Brisbane)
Pick 6: Gold Coast (received off Melbourne, via on-trades)
Pick 7: Western Bulldogs
Pick 8: Adelaide
Pick 9: Greater Western Sydney (received off Essendon, via on-trades)
Pick 10: Port Adelaide
Pick 11: Greater Western Sydney (received off Fremantle, via on-trades)
Pick 12: Geelong
Pick 13: Adelaide (received off Sydney, via on-trades)
Pick 14: Fremantle (received off Fremantle)
Pick 15: Port Adelaide (received off Hawthorn)

If its cards on the table time...
I hope we do a deal with Adelaide
Caldwell at 8 and Butters at 13 for me trumps King or Smith or Rozee by themselves.
If we dont deal- any of those 3 will be good inclusions
